guys, is it normal for them to ask for you to take a photo of your drivers license next to the mileage for verification before purchasing a warranty? I recently got a quote back and they say this would be the next step before payment. Just wanna make sure it's standard they want my photo ID via email/text.

I would assume that info (sans photo and DL #) should be available to the dealer via the BMW servers including vehicle info, mileage and owner information as seen in the BMW app.

If you are buying a plan from a dealer who can't physically see your car then yes. It can be a way of verifying info for BMW/Dealer since they are unable to see the car in person. Similar procedure would also be done when buying key fobs before BMW kinda of shut that process down for fobs and a few other parts.

its a verification. Otherwise you could just say your mileage is x, and it could be y. This way the dealer and BMW have verification from the buyer.

Yes, I just purchased one via a dealer in RI and this was a requirement.

That may be one that will give you a good chance to come out ahead depending on the wheels you get and the condition of the roads you drive on. If you are getting 22"'s and have a lot of potholes it could be something to consider.

Great advise by TurtleBoy...a few weeks back, as I was swapping out my Summer Tires for the Winter set, I noticed a nail in one of my Summer tires. Mind you, I purchased this vehicle new to me in Nov 2023....less than 90 days later...there it is...a nail in one of my low mileage tires (less than 3K miles). Took tire to the dealer who replaced...yup, I have the Tire plan also. So, mark that down as 1 tire replaced in 90 days...I suspect some more to come in my future.

Never would be the most appropriate time but some folks like the feeling that if a covered item breaks it won't cost them anything.

You can buy it at any time prior to the new vehicle warranty expiring, I would say wait until 6 months or so before that.

While I would not get one I shopped around a few years ago for pricing and these three were the lowest and they continue to offer great pricing.
