Took the day off and went to SPP with the wife and her M3

It's been a while since we visited Eric at SPP and we haven't seen his new shop so what better way than to go visit and make it a mod day?!

Wife wanted to retain her electronic dampers so we figured the best route would be to go w/ just the basic spring job. We've always been an H&R fan and thought that was what we were going to go with. Eric mentioned that he's had good luck w/ the Emmanuele Design springs. He said that the lowering provided more of a drop up front to lessen the wheel gap while still maintain decent ride quality. Decided to go with those.

We got the SPP "lunch lowering special" because it literally took less than 15 minute to remove and install the new springs. I think it would have taken 10 minutes if Damien really wanted to.

While we had the wheels off we went w/ some spacers. 10mm rear and 12mm fronts as the comp package I presume has a higher offset so you don't need to go with a thicker spacer. The results speak for themselves as it's just right.

We also changed out the exhaust covers as SPP had some newer ones that he's selling and they look a helluva lot better than the stock tips.

Your car looks great!

I am confused though how your springs were installed in 15 minutes.

When you have a lift and a guy like Damien doing the install and having a well thought out car, removing and replacing the springs couldn't have been easier. Having a lift helps.

Here's a sped up video to give you an idea of how simple it is to do

Impressive! Supreme installed those springs and everything else like a boss!

Curious to know if they indexed the bushings after the video?

I have never heard of anyone doing it in less than an hour or two let alone 15 minutes. Have they discovered some secret way of doing it? I watched the vid but I am not familiar with the procedure enough to know whether that is standard or not.

So do they only charge like $20 to do this lol?

LOL i wish right? If you search around youtube there's similar videos using this same procedure.

nars3000 what does that entail i'll tell you if they did. I wasn't filming the entire time just the key portions of it.

Stance looks great.

I'd stay away from "photoshoped bokeh", though.

Looks great! Did you get a new alignment or just live with the increased negative camber/toe out?

interesting post. regarding the install time, I was just quoted 6 hours to install KW HAS (including alignment) and 7 hours to install anti roll bars. At over $100/hr labor that adds up.

Thoughts?

And yes, they have a lift. It's a local place that seems to know what they're doing and have some BMW experience

That's a ripoff but send them OPs video and ask them why they can't do it in 15 minutes. Challenge their manhood. I pay $375 local to me which I think is too high as well. But BMW book time is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to any suspension work.

I would look elsewhere if I were you.

I can see that if they're doing it by the book but honestly that's a bit ridiculous amount of labor to charge. Definitely feel free to show them the video and see what they say.

On a side note, I've personally done suspension swaps on VW's, Audi's and Porsche's and the one that took the longest for me was the 997.2 swapping out from stock to coilovers at home on jack stands with no air tools. I think that took 7-8 hours...sooo they are looking up BMW's book time and charging you that.

we'll do alignment when she gets new wheels, I would dare to say that camber and toe are still within factory specs.
