How do people use car data? I can think of one use case - if there are passengers with tablets that only support wifi, they can connect to it via wifi hotspot feature of the car although the same can happen via phone hotspot. I am sure there are other use cases - would love to hear them.

I work virtually and often times I am traveling to destinations with no internet or have to stop and do work at say rest stop or parking lot. I will not use public WIFI with work equipment. I have a mifi but found it slow. Its super helpful to simply have everything in the car stop sit on the lower part of my hatch and work outdoors from the car. I've also used it in a bind with documents that are large. I only have a 4gig plan for personnel use but never use that much due to the wifi connections.

Good luck trying to get your free trial actually working with AT&T. I’ve spent hours/numerous activation phone calls to get this done with zero luck. However, they tried to persuade me to sign up with the same $15 plan even though they could not activate my G05 AT&T hotspot.

I eventually gave up, but if anyone out there finds the GSM sim slot on the G05 please let me know.

I guess I'm missing something...why not just use your phone as the wi-fi hotspot?

Nice for those who have RSE in the back. Hook a Firestick and enjoy Netflix movies on the go!

I know when I had Verizon this feature was an add-on that I didn't have since I had a company phone. Now that I'm with AT&T this feature is included. So I guess for PPL who don't have the capabilities to use their phone as a hot spot, this would be handy.

The Hotspot works great on trips with kids. Multiple iPads streaming as well as well as 2 phones up front. The service is far superior to other WiFi hotspots I have used with other auto manufactures.

Mine has worked flawlessly since middle of January. There was an initial issue where BMW issued the wrong vehicles phone number to a AT&T. Once that was straightened out my hotspot has worked flawlessly.

That’s great news, I’m getting the latest update on the idrive and going to try to reactivate again. Fingers crossed after reading this!

How did you figure out what the correct number associated to the car was to verify?

Worked with ATT and BMW for 2 weeks. BMW initially made an error with the first production of the X5 and their vehicle phone number. BMW should not have incorrect phone numbers by now. You just need your MDN WIFI hot spot mobile number. Your Genius should be able to supply it for you.

Call ATT for any issues 1 866 595 1222
