I have a car while I wait. If you can order a new one and wait all those months, I can’t see how fast you are in the need of the car as well …
Calling the dealer every week will not speed it up.

There indeed is no point in calling them every week.

The only thing that would be nice is to hear some feedback, some reassuring words. Just to know that you 100k car is not being fixed up behind your back waiting to become a lemon the coming months :-)

Right now BMW is doing the opposite …

Communications (lack of) is the root of all business (and most personal) problems. Read the Cayenne forum on Rennlist. Same issues….different brand.

I am also trying to cancel the order. My dealer promised me several delivery dates: first in September, then in week 41. On October 12th, they informed me that the car has been delayed, while every day before that week, they assured me it would be delivered that week. Because of these promises, I sold my car (Cayenne Coupé Hybrid). To me, my car is really a tool as I drive between 60,000 and 80,000 kilometers a year. I have the XM on order and, at this moment, I can purchase it from stock at more than four dealers nearby. For me, it's the lack of communication that frustrates me the most. We are all customers who have bought cars of significant value.

A RoRo vessel has a capacity of 4,000 to 8,000 cars. At the Charleston terminal, you can imagine there will be a multiple of this amount of cars. If there are 16,000 cars to be checked and repaired, we will have to wait an extra minimum of 3 to 4 months... and this is just an estimation. There might be additional delays if some parts need to be replaced or if there are longer delivery times for the parts, etc.

For me it's a little different. My X5 50e order arrived in June '23. I registered it and plates arrived. During pickup I noticed the car was delivered with the "S843 Power Reduction" option that is apparently default checked in Belgium. It was a costly mistake from the sales person that forgot to deselect it but the result was I didn't have a car anymore and also no X5.

BMW did nothing to help, the garage gave me a 7 year old Audi A4 with 245.000km on it. The car drives like it's 20 years old, dashboard gives all the time warning lights and they charge me for it so a very bad deal.

The good news was that the new X5 would arrive 2 weeks ago which was nicely arranged by the sales person but now it's stuck in the port. Nobody knows when it will be solved so it's getting annoying. I hope BMW will now at least offer a proper replacement car.

Hey is it also about the storm?
If yes, can you link me. Could not find it through the bunch of topics. Curious to read about it.

Do you have any idea if a K-Line RoRo boat left/was there at the time of the storm (30/08/2023). I could only find retrospective info about wallenius wilhelmsen. RoRo does not provide schedules back in time.

Attached copy of K line schedule including end August. From memory BROOKLANDS was delayed and arrived in Charleston on the 5 Sept. The ARC DEFENDER was also scheduled into Charleston, but I am not sure it went to the Columbus Terminal where BMW are.

My point is….many here are disappointed with the lack of communication from BMW. I assume you’ve read the entire thread??

I absolutely have, with great interest. I don't see the relevance of your reply, as I was wondering if Porsche communicated any better

Has anyone cancelled, and if so, were there costs attached?
Still don't know what to do with my order.
