Coding ACC (active cruise control)

Stupid question but can you code Active cruise control if you havn't got the driver assistance plus pack? It's clearly got a radar alreadly for the safety functions but is a different one required?

Does your vehicle have the ACC radar sensor? That is located at the front bottom bumper and should be like a 5" black circle, can't miss it.

If the actual sensor is there and wired in, yes but it would probably have to be by BMW.

Yes got the radar unit on my UK model. Does that mean other functions such as the self steering are also available as per driving assistant plus. Lane control works on mine but that might be standard. Maybe need to speak with BMW on it

Driving Assistant Professional requires different versions of the radar and the camera, as well as some extra controller hardware. So coding is not enough.

Lane Departure Warning is standard.

I don't have the driving assistance plus package, but I would really love to retrofit the ACC.

I think I found the ACC radar part number - 66316898190 from here:

I see that this post is a little out of date but in France options such as Active Cruise, High Beam assist and Drive Recorder are all offered as software updates at the following prices €60 for Drive recorder, €180 for High Beam and €870 for Driving Assistant Plus. News from UK dealers say these will come to UK in Q2 2020 and available for most iDrive 7 vehicles

Are these prices one off purchases or annual subs?

I am guessing you will also need to have the ACC button (and rocker switch) on the left side of the steering wheel, as opposed to just the CC button?

My car is a UK spec with ACC. You need more than the front radar for it to work and therefore cannot be coded unless you optioned it sadly.

I'm don't think you need any buttons. They have given me a VW Touareg as a hire car and that has ACC and it is all controlled from the screen. True its not as easy as the BMW but works great. In fact I've been very impressed with the VW as it is linked into the traffic sign recognition and the sat nav so it knows when a roundabout or bend is approaching and slows down and it automatically adjusts to the road sign speed limits.

Here is the french link https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.fr/ap...#/portal/store

Translation of my previous link
COMFORT AND SAFETY ON ROADS.
Long journeys and heavy traffic are often an ordeal. Especially when you are going to an important meeting or when you are on the holiday road. The ideal in these moments is to have an infallible help: the active cruise control with Stop & Go function. This system also warns you of the risk of a frontal collision thanks to its warning device with braking initiation. This system takes care of the trajectory towards the front of the vehicle by automatically regulating the distance with the vehicle in front of you and your speed. It also recognizes stopped vehicles, for example at the start of a traffic jam or at a traffic light.

The Stop & Go function automatically reduces your speed to a stop and accelerates again to the selected speed as soon as you can leave. Is someone suddenly braking in front of you or the system recognizes a pedestrian or a cyclist in a risky situation? Your BMW brakes quickly and comes to a complete stop.

"You can easily add this function to your vehicle thanks to Remote Software Upgrade. Active cruise control is immediately available to you after a short activation period of five minutes. You will find a detailed description of this functionality in the integrated user manual of your vehicle after activation."

Can't say but it looks like a one off payment as there are no end dates and to be honest at €890 surely its a one off

I have successfully retrofitted ACC w/ Stop & Go on my 2019 X5. For about $2000 usd all in.

I ordered the kit from "Group Buy Car Parts" on Facebook. They are based in Malaysia.

The kit came with everything needed.
I paid my mechanic to install.

It took 4 hours for the wiring and radar unit install and 2 hours for them to program and calibrate.

I couldn't be happier with the results.

I'd post a video but it's OEM functionality and there are a ton already on YouTube.

I can also dm the install instructions I made if that would be helpful to others.
