new rattle
I hesitate to raise this, since I spent (and documented) my travails with a rattling sunroof, but I another annoying rattle. This time, it's coming from the driver side (perhaps inside the door, roof liner, or b-pillar). I can only hear it at low speeds and it's muted enough (compared to the dreaded sunroof rattle) that I can't hear it with music on. But, it's there and since I like to drive quite a bit without music (acoustic glass anyone?), it's starting to wear on my nerves.
It is an odd sound. I can't hear it in any pressing or banging or pushing on any parts of the car, and it almost sounds like someone is making a muted popping noise with their mouth in my ear. Once or twice, not a big deal. Constantly, it's annoying as hell. Anyone else hearing anything similar? Any solutions? |

I eliminated one rattle by adjusting the passenger seat back rest (the upper half) forward a bit. Took me forever to find that the passenger seat was the source of the rattle. Try that and see if it works.

So, I think I've narrowed this down to the plastic frame around the inside of the driver door. It's the part surrounding the window.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for lubricating stiff plastic that creaks? |

Are you talking about the hard plastic surround or the seal? There's a product called Gummi Pflege that can lubricate the seal.

It's the hard plastic, unfortunately. I've used Gummi Pfledge on seals before -- may try it anyway to see if it helps -- but didn't know if anyone had any good way to make hard plastic less creaky.

Have had the same annoying rattle and haven't been able to find the source. I can only hear it when the radio is off and listen for it while going over uneven roads. I have pressed on everything trying to find the source. It must be under one of the cover panels.

I have the same issue. The lubricant has been applied to the seals which made one rattle better, but there is another one in the same spot (Driver side B Pillar). I Also get similar creaks from the passenger B Pillar and from the top of the car (Where the reading lights are). Low speeds / going over bumps. Definitely a plastic issue I think.
No fix yet. The amount of times it happens in a 40 minute trip I can probably count with 2 hands. So it may not be worth taking the car apart to figure these things out. |

I think I may have found the source of my “noise.” It was coming from the drivers seat, like a creaking noise. I basically adjusted the seat from front to back, up down, moved the head rest up down, front back, did the lumbar support, etc. I am relieved to say so far the noise has quieted down / I don’t hear it anymore. Hopefully it stays gone for good and not just coincidence
