Dealer May have Messed up

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
My car is at the dealer to have something buffed out + 10,000 things looked at (exaggeration of course). While reading the docs I was emailed (driving there to get it tomorrow) I saw the below. If they really washed my car I'm going to be rather unhappy to put things lightly.

For those who don't know my X5 is Carbon Black, full front PPF + Full ceramic coating. If you don't hand wash properly (I do weekly) your paint will look awful to put it lightly.

let's hope they didn't wash my car

If you didn't specify "No Wash" then they likely did it. I think many dealers wash a car anytime it is in for service. Hopefully all looks good.

If that is the case then you have aright to be royally pissed if they washed it and things look bad.

Edit: Maybe they just put the Wash line on all automatically and they actually didn't do it because of the note.

that's what I'm hoping for because knowing how dealers wash cars it might need actual correction which is my fear. I'll find out tomorrow and report back

I have been pleasantly surprised by the wash at my dealer, so far so good. They do hand wash though. Does putting the coatings on the car make it more difficult to wash?

I've never seen a dealer properly wash a car. Even a hand wash can be messed up so I have 0 confidence in them.

It's not the coating that's an issue. Watching a car improperly will cause swirls and marring

I thought the coatings stopped swirls from happening? That is what I read about Ceramic coatings? I'm not the best at washing TBH that is why Ceramic is making me lean to get it.

I agree properly washed....... But never seen an issue or problem come from them.

no, they help keep your car clean. You must not look that closely at your car then. There's only 1 ceramic brand that offers self healing for very very light scratches and that's Feynlabs Heal Lite and Heal+

Ugh. Perhaps it’s just a standard add-on to their service statements. A dealer washing Carbon Black is not a good match. I doubt they washed it since you were so specific.

I hope you're correct. I'm about 2 hours away so we will see. Just filling up the Rover before heading back out

edit it's refreshing to use Android Auto over the normal LR system which is awful

Ahh then some brand sites I have viewed must be skewing that a bit!!!! Not surprised. But honestly no I do not look over my daily driver that much.... I guess it's because I know my slight ocd would kick in and I cannot in anyway keep it perfect. I mean even the marks on the clear protection covers I have had in the past bother me if I keep an eye on it. I just go with the flow and if there is something that stands out I fix it, I guess that's not being very proactive but ehh...

Even though we are one of the busiest dealerships in the states, ours are pretty good here in "following direction", not sure of yours But I'm sure if noted clearly, your fine. We, new owners, always overthinking things. hahaha

that's a LR? looks similar to my MDX, minus the Nest buttons.

As far as I know they're the only ones doing it Feynlabs developed alot of the ceramic coatings for companies behind the scenes. Now, they make and market their own on top of the self healing onesI have it on my door handles and it does work (heal lite and heal+) A full car in Heal + is usually $2500-3000 because it's a mutli step coating that's pretty thick (15 microns) or 0.59mils.

LR Discovery, basically a glorified Jeep with worse reliability

good news! they definitely didn't wash it. It's raining in the DFW area now so that's fine, at least bugs on my window won't be a huge issue driving home.

edit: my cornering lights work apparently (haven't tested yet) and I'm on 03/2019.37
