Remote Start shuts off within a second

Has anyone encountered this issue?
The software version I'm on is 3/2019.48.
When I remote start the car using the key fob, it would start the engine, but it would shut off almost right away.

Could be car is not meeting one of the functional requirements (?). Below is for climate control through remote start.

I appreciate it! But it doesn't seem like any of those apply.. Wouldn't it not start the engine in the first place?

Argh.. my list of things to check with the dealership grows...

I just tried mine and it happened to me as well. After pressing the lock button 3x and hold, it remote start the engine but immediately shut off!

2nd try it worked, opened driver door and push start/stop without going in to turn engine off then i locked car.

3rd try remote start doesn't work at all. Tried multiple times. When I go in the car it says the condition for remote start is not met, both in the cluster and in the iDrive display. I checked that remote start is still enabled and it is. I started the car by pressing the start/stop button, turned it off and exited/locked the vehicle.

4th try remote start worked again.

May I also suggest trying the remote start in the CD app, as issue could be how fast the key is pressed and held.

I appreciate the input! I think the reason why your third try didn't work is because the system doesn't allow more then 2 consecutive remote start (I assume there is a time limit until 4th try is allowed).

This certainly doesn't seem very reliable... I'll probably visit the dealer in the next few weeks. Would love to know if anyone else is having this issue, so I could may be tell the SA that this is widely spread.

When you get in the car, is the AC fan blowing (even though engine is not running?).

A couple of times I have remote started my car (far enough away that I can't hear whether it actually started) but when I get to the car and open the door, the AC fan is running but the engine is not on.

You are right, I think I read the 2 consecutive starts as well. Thanks.

I didn't hold. Did it just as what the manual says. I just tried it again and it started the engine, but it stopped right away again

It is buggy for me also. X5 starts up and then the engine dies a second later. I think one time it started and stayed on but most of the time it starts up and dies.

I had a similar issue and actually ended up having to get the car to the dealer. I did a remote start, when I got to the car it wasn’t running, I get into the car foot on brake and pressed the start button, the engine turned over almost fired and then stopped. This happened multiple times so I then got out and locked the car, waited a few minutes and tried again no luck same thing, engine turns over but no start. After an hour I gave up and BMW roadside took the car to my dealer. After 3 days to the dealer they failed to identify any problem and the car didn’t fail for them at all so I just got it back, the only plus was they did a software update for me. Any ideas as to why it behaved this way and failed to start for me?
