Which interior colour? Cant decide...
Hello all, I am ordering my new X5 40i and I have decided on the exterior (black saphire metallic) but not for the interior. I am between the ivory white/black (MCEW) or the cognac/black (MCRI). What do you guys think? Thanks for the responses.

IMO, ivory white looks good when new. Then it doesn't. Dye transfer and wear show well on this color. If you're OK with worn and discolored leather then go for it. Otherwise you'll be cleaning it often. Be careful wearing jeans and some belts!
Cognac is a better choice. Pretty color. Again, since it's lighter it will show dirt, wear and stains more than a dark color.

Spec'd my Carbon Black 40i with Ivory and Fineline trim. Wanted to go for a contrast and reduce interior heat. Expect the Ivory to show dirt/require more maintenance so have purchased a few products for that.

I am sending few photos to see the differences.
So it's: 1. Black Saphire with ivory interior (MCEW) with ash grain brown high gloss (4KP). 2. Black Saphire with ivory interior (MCEW) with fineline stripe high gloss (4KR). 3. Black Saphire with ivory interior (MCEW) with poplar grain light anthracite brown open-pored (4KT). 4. Black Saphire with cognac interior (MCRI) with fineline stripe high gloss (4KR) 5. Black Saphire with cognac interior (MCRI) with ash grain brown high gloss (4KP). I am also attaching the 2 options ivory/cognac exterior photos on how the car will look. |

I think the ivory/poplar combination is best, and doesn't require out-of-ordinary care. Maybe not best choice with dogs / young kids, but stunning IMO.
15-20 minutes every 4-6 weeks with Zaino #9 & #10 keeps it looking new. |

I have decided on ivory after all. However regarding the trim i'm between the fineline stripe brown high gloss (4KR) or the poplar grain light anthracite brown open pored (4KT). I am leaning towards the second one. What do you think?

I was in the exact same spot, and also considered the dark aluminum. Ended up going with Fineline but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Here are some pics that convinced me to go with fineline.

I finally ordered my new BMW X5 40i See attached photos of the order.
As you can see I ordered the interior combo (ivory white with poplar grain anthracite brown). However I'm still a bit sceptical about this combo in regards to how easily it will get dirty. My other option is the cognac leather with the fineline stripe brown. I have 10 days to change my mind before the order goes through. |

Had ivory in a 550 and it looks fantastic but 100% requires more maintenance than darker colors, especially if it's in a softer, upgraded leather. Even if no kids or pets, it will still need to at least be wiped with leather wipes at times (weekly maybe, depends on your use) and you'll need to be careful with dark jeans as the color can run on the leather.
Pets never went in mine and while kids did, not every day and never with food and feet were kept off my seats. So, the extra maintenance wasn't the end of the world and was totally worth it, but without a doubt required more care than black or brown seats would. |

Nice look with the Ivory White. You might consider applying a leather sealant such as Ceramic Pro. This will help minimize color transfer from clothing to the leather. Jeans is the worst. See
Another tip to further spruce up the interior is to install the crystal elements for the controls. BMW offers such an upgrade kit for the gear lever. Other vendors have upgrade kits for the iDrive controller, see https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081PM1QFS?ref=myi_title_dp |
