Leather Dash worth it?
Hey,
So I was speaking with my rep today and he mentioned I still had time to add a leather dash if I wanted it (I mentioned it to him off hand previously). I was debating going for the larger rims so now I'm torn - should I add the leather dash or larger rims? I do understand I would need to get winter tires being in upstate NY, however, I'm not too worried about that. Is the leather dash worth it? Not sure if it matters but I did tartufo interior with woodline trim. |

Leather dash is a must. It adds to the doors as well. In a vehicle at this price point, it’s a must have. In the North East, the 20”ers are the only way to get around in the snow. If you go larger your option is one AT tire that fits the 21” wheel and it will cost you $2k for just tires. Nothing fits the 22”ers so you need new wheels and tires for the snow months.

It should be included with the premium leather though like the F15, price is a rip off but it does look nice!

We didnt, wished we had, were used to it, from the F15. We dont drive the X5 on snowy days, point being, if had to choose, would not pick leather dash over the 22" rims.

For my option "Canberra Beige Vernasca Leather", the leather dash was automatically added and I didn't have a choice. But it does add that luxury feel and looks very nice.

We got the leather dash and don't regret a bit. It's a must. As mentioned above, it's more than the dash. Door tops, etc. also we went with the 22's. And they are awesome. Although they are in storage for the winter. We got a set of 20" wheels with winter tires for winter, as we also live in the NE. Good luck with your decision!

Definitely think the leather dash was worth the expense. I now harshly judge everyone else's car that doesn't have it. Good choice on the interior! Here's mine! |

It's a must have to not have your $70k-$95k SUV not look cheap, however I think $1000 is ridiculous. I got it because I didn't want to look at the cheap dash and be mad.

So what's $1k in greater scheme of things, nothing really. Hell if there was a full leather option if go for it even at the usual $2500 premium

Does anyone have any information regarding the long-term durability of the leather dash in high-heat, high-sun areas such as Texas?
I actually thought that the stock dash was fine with the black leather interior, but will take another look this weekend. I'm in production queue still. |

I'd be more concerned with the long term durability and integrity of the tech, gadgets and gizmos than a leather dashboard.

I have has leather dash in my 911’s for years. No issue as long as you condition it from time to time. BMW has a special UV protectant leather conditioner for leather trim pieces.
Here is the BMW leather product: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/6...ROTECTION-KIT/ |
