Pickup in Spartanburg is awesome!

My wife and I picked up her G05 in Spartanburg today.

Okay, I've owned BMWs since 1988. I've been to BMW driving events. I've been to Munich to pick up a car up at Welt on the European Delivery Program. But, this PCD experience picking up my wife's G05 takes the cake.

If you have a choice to go to South Carolina and pick your car up, take it. You won't be disappointed. We got Donnie as our head driver. He has a lot of experience and he's funny to boot. I cannot believe how well the G05 handled on the road course. It was raining and the track was completely wet and it felt like it was on dry pavement. I never felt like I was lugging around a 5000 pound vehicle. I'm sitting here tonight writing this and I still cannot figure out how they did it.

The G05's ability on the off-road course was amazing as well.

As an added bonus, I got to do a hot lap as a passenger in an M3 with Donnie. Let's just say his skills are on another planet from mine and I'm a pretty good driver.

Every single thing about the G05 was awesome today. Whatever issues people are having with bugs is unfortunate. So far ours is perfect. If something comes up, I'll deal with it. It would take a lot of problems to wipe the smile off my face. And the most important part is my wife is thrilled too. It's her car but I'm hoping she will let me borrow it from time to time.

My personal opinion is BMW has totally hit it out of the park with the G05.

I was worried about legroom after all the noise about how BMW screwed up by some members of the forum. I got in the back with theh front seats in normal position and there is plenty of room.

As you already know, BMW puts you up in the Marriott and feeds you dinner, breakfast, and lunch. As expected, they were very organized and didn't miss a beat.

We got 2 hours going over the car with Nick, the guy who teaches the Geniuses. I cannot image getting that level of attention at the dealer, but who knows.

One last and important thing is they did a good job prepping the car. I did not see a single swirl or blemish. It was perfect to my eyes. A detailer might disagree but I'm more than happy with the G05 as they delivered it to us in Spartanburg.

The only downside of the day had nothing to do with the car. At lunch, we were in the cafeteria ordering lunch and I saw the menu included a "Beemer Burger", not a "Bimmer Burger". I asked our driver why they would screw that up at of all places a bimmer car plant. He said they have complained about it and the management won't change it. Oh well.

Got to go. I have to see if I can wipe this grin off my face before bedtime.

This is my wife's G05 and I'm getting pretty good at calling it her car. But, it is so great I'm beginning to get jealous. I love my F30 and its just right for me as a personal car, but this G05 is in a whole other league.

So, your wife seems excited but you have ice water in your veins if you don't get excited too.

Have a great time PCD experience. Let us know how it went for you.

Thanks. I was concerned about the Ivory but the posts from X15 owners with Ivory eased my mind. My wifed decided to "go for it" and after seeing in person we have no regrets at all. The Phytonic/Ivory combo is really nice with the fineline wood trim too. Just another great combination on this beautiful vehichle.

Thanks for sharing. Beautiful car! Post more pics of your travels in different states as you drive to the West Coast. You will reach sooner than my car would in the cargo train!

Thanks for posting. We are picking ours up in Spartanburg on the 22nd. Can't wait for this experience!

Nice color combo. This is the first Phytonic with the 740M wheel I remember seeing. I think that wheel is a nice combination of classy and sporty.

I understand, I like new cars too! I'm more of a truck/Jeep guy but she greenlighted my dream M5. She wants to do a European delivery.

I am excited about her new delivery. She picked arctic grey.
Will follow up for sure.

Have a safe trip home!
