I'm on the Jan play system update and latest version of Wallet and it still doesn't work. Can you please provide more details like what phone you have, vehicle, version of Google Wallet, etc. Thanks.

I'm not able to get it to work. Brand new Pixel 8 Pro out of the box and a 2023 i4 that I purchased last year. The app says the phone is not compatible. My Pixel 6 Pro supported Digital Key just fine.

Google wallet: I'm honestly not sure where to find this, but the Play Store says it is up to date.

Did you have to do any special steps to get it to work? I'm opening the app, and if I choose "Set up Digital Key" it goes to a screen that says "Device Compatibility: Your device is not compatible with BMW Digital Key." If I place it on the card reader in the car, and initiate the setup process from the head unit, the phone generates the same notification.

That's weird. I have a P8P and the option to install the digital key + is in the app. Unfortunately it won't work as yet, but the option is there.

What country are you in? Maybe it's location locked?

I tried again this morning and it finally worked!! It's very strange because I've updated NOTHING since Feb 14 (when I last tried) which makes me think it's a server side configuration that Google needs to initiate. I don't know why Google just can't have things work like Apple. My wife's iPhone worked perfectly from day 1.

FYI not sure if this made a difference but I used the email link instead of going thru the BMW app to set it up.

I tried it, there was some progress at least in terms of seeing something on the car's screen (which didn't happen before) but now I'm getting this error (not on the phone but on the car screen):

I just tried a couple of times and it works now!!
Just a quick question, how reliable are these digital keys? I don't want to be stranded in case it doesn't work. Will probably carry the key fob around just in case.

You can reset the digtial key in the car. When you do that the system will email you with a link to setup your new digital key. I used this linkinstead of trying to setup within the app. No sure how other people have gotten it to work.

It has never failed my wife. She had to reboot her phone once to get it working. But take all this with a grain of salt since she is using an iPhone.

Still doesn't work. I tried the email link method the day I picked up my car a few weeks ago. No luck unfortunately. No rhyme or reason to why it works for some and not for others.

I used the link from the email when I first purchased the car. I had to try a couple of times with my phone in the charger. I'm in the US.

No luck for me here in the US. Everything on P8P is updated. Tried from email link, from myBMW app, from iDrive in the car, nothing works.

After hitting reset how do you then get the reset email? I read on the BMW website that you "need to contact the dealer" - I am in the US.

After you reset in iDrive, you'll get an email sent that says "welcome to digital key plus" and it will have options to add it directly from the email to Apple Wallet or Android, and at the bottom is the code that you can enter manually when the prompt pops up on your phone.
