Everyone does not "suffer" with the same things. Everyone has different wants, needs, thresholds, etc.

Also, "have to"? LOL

It was said a bit tongue in cheek.

It means that if you're not paying exorbitant service prices at insane intervals then you're probably not driving an exotic.

The NSX was the first "livable exotic" because the only issue it had was that it ate rear tires (weight, camber, etc). It was expensive, and rare, but didn't have the crazy expensive maintenance, and many did not call it an exotic for years and years.

If you paid over 6 figures, can count the production numbers in the hundreds, and are scared of the 35,000 mile service or what it might cost for a clutch install, you're probably driving an exotic.

If you approach this logically/financially/mathematically then no, the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

But an exotic car purchase is an emotional decision (usually - there's always exceptions for cars that go up in value significantly).

So the answer to if the juice is worth the squeeze depends on how sweet the juice tastes to you.. and that's purely subjective.

In my case I plan to buy one at some point when my kids have grown.

just depends on your term for 'exotic' and what that means to you. just like how the term 'supercar' can mean different things to different people. personally i think there is way too much gray area to classify cars like that.

for instance i wouldn't consider a ferrari california or lambo urus as exotics.

What is exotic anymore? Nearly nothing. Maybe million dollar hyper cars that no one can see or buy....Koenigsegg?

I don't think an R8 is exotic. a 911 GT2RS is not exotic. even an SF90 is borderline normal even though a LaFerrari was pretty exotic in it's day, which was actually a long time ago now.

To me, exotic means mystery. Not much is mysterious anymore.

Exotic is it's own thing, not a step in the hierarchy of super car to hyper car.

Not 100% sure, but I think the R8 is a hell of a lot more manageable than a 488.

SF90 borderline normal...what? LOL.

Personally, I think all these terms are silly, e.g. supercar, hypercar....whatever. As long as they are sportscars, I'm interested. I don't get differentiating by price and calling it something else.

I dunno if I'd say that is car is boring but hybrids definitely aren't the pinnacle of tech.

Not sure I'd call it boring without having driven it, but I get what you're saying. 488 for me (with a manual swap), as I NEED that engine sound.
