Aston Martin Cygnet

Extremely interesting news today regarding the Aston Martin line-up, as Autocar online reports:

'Aston Martin has struck a ground-breaking deal with Toyota to launch a £20,000 version of the Japanese-built iQ commuter car, badged Aston Martin Cygnet and built at Aston’s Gaydon works in Warwickshire.'

Way to sell out and tarnish the Aston Martin name...

No other way for it, this must have something to do with the European Commission rules on the average CO2 emissions for car manufacturers.

Surely, a Lagonda badged Golf Bluemotion would have done the same? Cant believe these two are sleeping together!

To buy one you must also fork out for a traditional Aston supercar, such as the £160,000 DBS, or already own one.
Makes some sense.

I like it. But then again, I like the idea of a premium supermini, for city use where congestion charges are the norm, and parking is very hard to come by (remember the Top Gear with Clarkson and company taking the big luxury cars downtown London and trying to find parking spaces?). I've always loved the performance versions of the Japanese kei cars (like having AWD, turbocharged 5 valve percyl crazy revving little engines in a tiny car). This thing would still be exclusive, and I'm sure luxurious inside.
