Huge Delays on X5

Ordered X5 m50d with every option you could throw a fish at in November 2018. Dealer has said initially delivery would be in May, but now says September to November at the very earliest !!

Anyone know what is going on?!

Is there some preferential networking going on as some have suggested?

Laser light homologation issues?

Parts issues?

Any European buyers experience long waiting and unhelpful cryptic dealers ?

Are you in UK? Brexit issues?

Can't be a delay at the factory level for that long. Either the dealer is screwing with you or there are other factors at play.

Sounds like dealer didn't really have an allocation. Did they give you a production number?

No number given.

Any idea what I should know (or be given) and how can I go higher up the chain to get the right answers ?

In my country there is a single owner for all of the bmw dealerships, and no reply from him other than “there are long waiting lists”.

I ordered my M50d in October. Got a December allocation that got pushed to March because of laser lights and 3rd row. Taking delivery next week in Sweden.

can you not find details for BMW Germany or BMW central europe? i assume if like you mentioned just 1 guy who owns the dealerships, then go above him and reach out to their customer services for BMW direct?

if all else fails, email the CEO of BMW i had to, things get done an awful lot quicker... when he is involved...

Time period for waiting M50D in Russian Federation - 6-8 month. I guess this pretty average for Europe due to the high demand for this specific engine.

can you confirm if the M50d is still available on the BMW site configurator, it is not available on the UK site and has not been for a while, it makes me think something is wrong, which they are not telling us.

mine is due in 2 weeks. but i get this information from the bmw genius on the website not from the dealer, the dealer doesnt answer my emails on this subject....

Won't be on that boat then.

All cars from SC go to Bremerhaven first to be unloaded and processed, and then shipped from Germany, so as to be an import from within the EU, not an import from the USA. The shipping from USA to Germany is an internal BMW transport.
Car will then be loaded on a boat and go to Southampton (likely the same one, but a day or so later)
That's why 9000 status for that amount of time.

How did you find out when the car went into production and when it was on its way ?

All I have is the purchase contract number.
