Run in with a douche 650

Despite the many issues I have with the car, I took it out last night.

Me and the woman headed out to a restaurant by some water for dinner. This restaurant is located in a complex with a lot of bars and clubs. The road to the restaurant is the main cruising strip of Dubai - now heavily patroled by the cops.

So after the dinner, we leave the parking lot and have a black 650 pull up next to me next to the lot's stop light. My mirrors are folded up. The 650 has 3 obviously drunk arab teens (definitely daddy's car) in it. One of them starts pointing and I am like what happened dude? And he mentioned my mirrors are folded.

I thanked him and told him that they will come down at 40km/h.... all cool. He then goes onto refute me saying no BMW mirrors come down at 120.... wtf.

I then tell him that I know my car, and maybe his car was an older model. His reply was - yours is just a 3 series, this is a 2007 650. Anyway the light turns green and we head onto the Beach road.

Then the idiots start trying to bait me. Revving, cutting into my lane, slowing down, flashing his lights, passing nasty comments.

I don't take the bait - thanks to some sense prevailing in me for once, and the woman telling me very sternly to not mess these kids.

This continues for about 5 miles, and as the traffic builds up the douchebags make more and more risky moves. Finally, at a traffic light, they are forced to get onto the sidewalk (at over 60km/h) to avoid hitting another car.

His tires are ruined. And there were cops nearby who then proceeded to arrest them for drunk driving (I had pulled over at the gas station - near the scene).

Friggin kids in daddy's toys.

Anyway, the 650 is not that fast. I thought my "just a 3 series" could have hung with it. (am expecting to be flamed now). But the 6 is still a sweet car and if I had the cash would have much rather had that (the 650 cost $100K here in Dubai).

Anyway, my biatch is going in to the dealer next week and am gonna fight to get it replaced with a new one.

lol, good judgement on your part. Funny thing is, if the 650 had 3 kids in it, I think you might've hung with him.

wouldnt the 335 be able to hang with it anyway? or only when modded?

It'd definitely hand with a 645...dunno bout the 6er's with the 4.8L V8's though.

Haha Dubai has a whole load of posers there. I heard theres kids as young as 16 driving Ferrari cause their dads are "prince of oil". What a bunch of a-wholes.

I've driven a 650 pretty hard before, and I think the 335 would take it rather easily, at least at lower speeds. On the highway it would probably be a different story.

And that it's actually faster on the Highway from 50-70mph. Doesn't that imply that the lighter 335i would kill the 650i/550i except for Top End?

I do love my 335. But am having ridiculous number of problems with it. Its a lemon but there are no lemon laws in dubai so have to fight it out with the dealer.

I actually took it up against a 650 on the highway here in the early morning hours (read no cars on the highway). Was cruising at about 65 when he pulls up next to me in a black 650, and he wanted to go. Since it was straight, and no cars I took it up with him. We both had a good launch from 65, and by the time I hit 130 I was about 2-3 car lengths ahead of him. I was actually surprised that the 335 could take him like that, with him having 360hp/360tq and only about 250lbs heavier.

I wonder if I were to run one at sea level if the results would be the same...I am kinda doubting it.

He was all smiling and gave me a thumbs up at the end, so was cool.
