Anybody run an 08 LS3 Vette yet?

I know it would probably take v2.02 with some other mods or JB2R on race gas with some other mods to even stay close (since 08 Vettes trap 116+)

I think both Walked U and Terry will trap in the 115 range with their current set ups so I know anything less won't have much of a chance, but just wondering if anybody has tried yet for the fun of it?
I think Walked U with 100% settings on 93 Octane and an intake that won't suck in so much hot air, or Terry with DP's on his car, might hang with one.

It's just crazy to think how fast those 08 vettes are right off the lot for $50K and how much faster they can be for only $2-3k.

A nice sweet minor exterior remodel for the vette in 09 would be tempting!
I don't know why Chevy didn't remodel the exterior for 08 too, not just the engine and interior...unless as stated the exterior remodel was left for 09.

The only exterior refreshes Chevy will probably do with the C6 will be left to the ZR1 that is coming in 2009. The C7 should arrive in 2012 or so. But, yeah the new LS3 'Vette is a sweet machine. The improved steering is probably more then enough to keep the 'Vette competitive, but the extra power doesn't hurt.

Yep, my brother has an 08 Vette Z51 w/ the 2LT. He dyno'ed 385 whp with 1005 miles on the clock. His car is QUITE a bit faster than my car. He easily pulls. His first time out was a 12.5 @ 115.5 bone stock with 1500 miles on the car.

LS3s are pretty nice... cam swap, headers, and exhaust gets you a streetable 450rwhp. If you want to go wild for the same price you can get almost 500rwhp

Drove my friends 08 vette cov't 6mt. The steering and the transmission are a big improvement. The car has no rattles, and the seats were great.

I get me 335i coupe, sports, 6mt, next week.

I kid him, the cars are equal, and it is all driver. So he will lose.

The C6's will end up in a trailer park one day, just like every other vette.

My neighbor just recently got an '08 Vette and just hearing it growl when he passes by - no way. You'd have to have the new M3 to even consider it... and even then...

The best thing I have ever herd of explaining what the vettes are like was my Mr.Clarkson on Top Gear. "A corvette is like herpes, great fun getting it, but once u have it, its not so much fun to live with everyday"
Sure the vettes are getting better, and are a good value when u look at then on paper, but its about all the little things. Just slap the dash and u will see what I am talking about, or take it in for service and see what type of experience that is, lol.
Im just not a gold chain, black hair greased back, smoking ciggs kind of guy. Therefore they never have really been drawn to my tastes.

try 506 rhwp with just a cam, headers, K&N Air Charger. ported intake and UD Pulley. Add heads, exhaust, FAST 90 intake, etc. and you're in the 550+ RWHP range. Guys adding nothing but headers and catbacks plus porting the TB and intake are running 11.5-11.6 in the 120-122 range, that's Z06 territory with "basic" bolt-ons.

Driver72 is right in saying that a 335 with v2.02 with some other mods, JB2R on race gas with some other mods, etc will stay close to a stock 08 probably til 4th gear. Those LS3's are mod-loving beasts and if the 08 is even slightly modded, there aren't enough upgrades available yet for the 335 to keep it from being embarrassed.

If you get all the extras and the interior upgrade you can spend in the mid-50's but you can also pick up a basic one with Z51 for low 40's all day long.....

+1. Sold my 335 i last month. Bought a vette. Had a Porsche prior, and many, many other makes and models. Some people are ridiculous. They feel that the car you drive right now defines you. They'll eventually grow up.

exactly, it's pretty pathetic to let a car be the thing that defines you or stereotype others through their vehicle.

I would never do that but it's tough owning both models. Some days I'm a uptight, ignorant pick who has to show everyone how cool my car is by driving fast and weaving through traffic when I drive my BMW and some days I'm a gold chain and jogging suit wearing guy who's in my 50's or 60's when I drive the Vette....

Thanks. We're many things to many people. But that's just it--you can't define a person by their car, their clothes, or any physical object that they possess.

I don't think a stock C6 will pull too much on a V2 PROcede with Exhaust.
I'm sure the V2 will lose, but not by much.

I raced my friends 997 Turbo when I had only v1.47, from 60-120mph he pulled about 4 cars on me.
Now, with V2 and ehaust, he will probably pull 3 cars on me. Which is not that much.

A stock C6 is a little slower than a 997 Turbo, so from 60-120mph, I'm estimating getting pulled about 2 cars.

This arguement is like the M5 v Procede 335i, sure in the lower gears the 335i will hold up to the vette and M5, but an I-6 v a V10/7.0 Liter V8 won't keep up on the top end.

I mean sure the Vette is fast, but im sorry but the age old argeument still stands, no matter how fast the Vette is, it's personal taste. I personally wouldn't be caught in one. Especially on the North Shore of Long Island. But if your comfortable with driving it, then more power to you.

People who dog on the 'Vette or any other car like it are pretty much image snobs. The BMW badge probably influenced their buying decision too because of the image a BMW brings to your ego. If you were truly a car person you wouldn't give a crap what badge is on the car or what image it brings. You would be able to give credit where credit is due. Frankly, the 'Vette isn't getting enough credit, IMHO. It is a performance machine with good handling comparable to Porsche's, Ferrari's, etc that cost 2-4x as much as the 'Vette for a bargain. You can have your preferences, but don't let your ego get in the way of giving a good vehicle credit. I mean I don't like Toyota's and I will probably never buy them in my life time. But, the Camry, Tundra, ES, IS, GS, LS, etc are all good vehicles and I will give credit where credit is due on those vehicles.

Well if you didn't give a crap about the car badge, we would all be driving that 450HP Eagle Talon. Don't think that Vette owners don't have EGOs also, I've met quite a few that do.
