Winter set up help

Does anyone have a recommendation for a winter set up for the 21' rims.

I am scheduled to do the performance delivery the end of November and I live in Michigan so I know I will need winter tires.

275/40-21 and 315/35-21

Is it possible to do 275/45-21 and 315/40-21? I have seen Pirelli has a winter tire with the height being about +/- 5.

Tire rack said they could not tell me if it was ok since they have not tried is on a new x5 yet.

I see BMW does sell a 18-20 inch winter set up, but I am not crazy about it.

Thanks!

I have the same problem but with 20".

Today I called my dealer and he told me, that I should buy the same size 275/45/20 both front and rear. Unfortunately rear rim is wider (10,5" instead of 9") and there is no chance to put there 275/45/20 tire... so maybe I will have to by 2 additional 20" (9") rims .

Are you talking about G05 20"? The width is the same front/rear on all G05 20" wheels.

No - I bought mine in Europe and I have:

Front 275/45/20 rim 9"
Rear 305/40/20 rim 10,5"

I’m taking delivery next week with Michelin Latitude X-Ice X12 274/45R20 winter tires mounted on 20” x 9” OEM rims. Among other reasons, the availability of winter tires swayed my decision to choose a “square” OEM set-up. Besides, I’m partial to Michelin’s balance of traction and quietness for winter tire performance.

I need to get a winter setup here in Germany. I ordered the 21" from the factory, and I have the M Sport brakes, so I am looking at a 20" winter setup.

That being said, exactly what size and offset do I need to buy? From what I have been able to find online, I think BMW changed their bolt pattern for the G05 to 5x112. Is this correct? What would the proper offset be?

My suggestion would be to talk to your dealer for whatever you want. If you want bigger wheels than 20" or a staggered setup, the dealer can order the rims alone and separately winter tires. At least I was proposed that in case BMW will not offer more options for full winter sets until my February delivery.

Yes, unfortunately for those of us that already have an F15 winter setup, you are correct. The bolt pattern is different from F15 to G05.

Do you know what the offset is supposed to be? Can anyone confirm the 35et?

Question Limited Winter Choices, continued...

Relative newbie to this fantastic forum: Trying to avoid the sticker-shock of OEM winter set... Anyone tried Milanni wheels on G05?
I will have a 20" square 740M setup on my mid-Dec 40i Msport delivery. Three winter-setup questions for y'all smart people today:

1. I noticed the 471 Splinter's offset=32 (not 35), wondering if that would be "material", or OK?
2. Seems square setup preferable for winter - what would be the issue with going the "European" setup here in US (2nd wheelsize & tires)?
3. My Discount Tire person says G05 needs 112V load tire at rear. Since I don't plan to tow (don't have hitch) - is this true?
