Dashcam?

Hi All,
I am looking for a dash cam for my 2021 X5. I saw saw that this BMW Advanced Car Eye 3.0 Pro - BMW Northwest says it works? Based on my conversation with this place in Tacoma, WA. I was wondering whether if anyone else has installed the 3.0 pro on their 2019/2021/2022 X5? Thanks

I did not install BMW's dash cam, but thought about multiple times, even though I had already purchased and installed a VIOFO A129 dual cam setup. I kept having issues with some safety features and the heated steering wheel not working.

Found out the shop that did the installation put the hardwire kit in the wrong fuse location. It was switched and not it works flawlessly and recommend the Viofo A129 or A229.

Good luck with your decision.

I have it in my 2022, i like the fact that it always records in parking mode, but i dont like the software, its really slow and very annoying if you want to view recorded files, specially if you have carplay running.
easiest is to take out the sd card and then view the files.

quality is okish, there are better quality cams out there, but if you want parking mode and a reasonably good priced dashcam go for the 3.0 Pro

Agree with the above - it’s a pain trying to watch footage back, so I don’t bother. It’s easier to remove the card and watch back on your computer. Even then you need the specific software to see all information properly.

The system is nice, but there are better out there. I do not use all the features - I just want it to record while driving. That’s it. I don’t use all the other bells and whistles. Overpriced for what it is, but matches the car! Lol

Have the Viofo 129 in my wife’s car - great little unit!

Tried to add the 3.0 to my 24 build but they ran out of inventory so it was dropped. In the end I’m glad it worked out that way. Think the 3.0 is an average DashCam and there are better options out there.

Ended up getting the new Viofo 229 Pro 2-channel. Also added an external battery pack mounted in the passenger side rear fuse box area which allows me to run it on parking mode with a 20+ hr battery life.

Had it for around a month and it’s worked great so far.
