2022 M50i, but I'm not excited
My 2019 40i lease is up in two months so I need to figure out what to do. I happened to find a 2022 M50i just like I would have ordered at a nearby dealer, so I went to go see/drive it.
Yes, it's crazy fast and it sounds amazing. The right colors inside and out. It's very well optioned. The seats are nicer than my 2019. But I'm not excited. This would be the first time I would be replacing a vehicle with basically the same vehicle, albeit a newer/more advanced version. It retails for $20k more than my 2019 did. Anybody else encounter this situation? |

I bought out my 2019 lease last Spring because I wanted to wait for the LCI in MY24 before getting an M50i. Doesn't;t look like it will be much different, at least on the outside, but will decide in a few years.

At this point, I'm happy with the X5. Maybe in a year or so I'll be ready to make a change.

I just bought out my 2020 for the same reason as Turtle...
I have owned or driven 99% of everything else in the class...and the X5 is just the best of them overall. My last V8 will now probably the X5. Then it's electrification for me.

Picking up my Dravit Grey m50i Wednesday.
Had a 16 X5M. Then got 19 X5 40. Traded it for 21 X7 m50i. Too big kept it 5 months traded for a 22 750i. TOO low and hard to get into and out of (we are 76 years old). Ordered this X5 m50i dravit grey with tartufo leather and black piano trim 22 black wheels with NON RUN FLAT TIRES!!! Picking it up Wednesday, there are tinting the windows and putting nitrogen in the tires. 6K miles on my 750. Loosing some $$$ but will be happy to get back in an X5. This will be my 5th. Got all the options 100K sticker. I feel it is X5 m50i is the best of both worlds!!

You know your 2019 40i is worth probably more than you owe. Make sure you trade it for your next car so you get some $cash back. or just buy the lease and wait till the market gets better.

Perhaps you need to go Mercedes, Porsche, or (Genesis?) at this time?

I replaced 2011 X5 with 2013 X5M in 2015, no one (not enthusiasts) understood as for them it was the same car, but I was very exited and never looked back!
so if you after more power go for it!

For those who don't care about acceleration, the 40i is more then plenty. If you're only after newer tech/options, and not performance in a sleeper looking grocery getter, the M50i is a waste of an extra $15k I'm like the others in this thread, I love the M50i only due to its engine. Yes it's a nice car in an all around way too, but it's not very exciting if I'm being honest. But I love the wolf in sheep clothing aspect of it. There's also the rebellion side of me that wants what gov mandate bureaucrats are trying to get rid of for as long as I can, and that's a TT V8 |

Not a fun position to be in… Have you checked out the X6? Maybe the difference will feel exciting. I’ve moved from a MB GLE43 Coupe to an X5 45e. I loved my brother’s new X7 50i and I wanted more storage space as I haul a lot of gear several times a year. The GLE was a pain to load and limiting for me.
I test drove a several X5/7 with different engines before going with the 45e, which I didn’t get to test drive. The 50i engine was exciting, the 50M engine incredible, but I liked the idea of all electric for many of my drives. The GLE43 was fun for 4.5 years, I’ll miss the sound when driving in Sport+, but not too much else. I love the driving position in the 45e and the creature comforts I’m only learning about. I also really like the look of the X5. If you really like your 40i, buy it out, maybe put some new wheels on it, aero kit, etc… to give it a different appearance. That inline 6 is a dream machine, and in a couple of years, maybe there will be something super exciting for you. Good luck videoman535i |

I’m not surprised. We have a 2020 40i and a 2021 M50i. Now, I absolutely love my M50i but the interiors are virtually the same and on the road it looks no different (unless you know otherwise) from a 40i with M sport bumpers. I totally get why someone would not be as swayed or find that “wow” factor beyond engine. Why did I get it? I test drove RR, GLE53 coupe, Cayenne (not S). They all were beautiful and offered variety on interior. However, I wanted a V8 motor and in that price range and overall driving feel, I chose the M50i.

I'd like to hear about your experience and gripes. I'm currently selling my 2021 X4MC on this forum and Orderibg a 2022 X6 M50. Do you wish you got the X6MC instead?
