Wow - I didn't even think about that. Thanks for sharing your experience and i'm sorry to hear about it. Seeing the chrome underneath would drive me nuts. No way i cave now.

Looks fantastic. I have the exact same in Black S. Can't wait to polish mine out like yours...Unfortunately I live in Houston and its crap weather from now until mid March.

An alternate route, especially if you want a custom look (I like the previously posted grille with chrome surround, gloss black slats, and a body color center strip) is to find a local paint shop or detailer.

My detailer (who did PPF, etc.) does have pro-level painting and said they would do it for $200. He showed me a Tesla they were doing when I picked up my X5, so I was able to take a look at their work.

Of course, he'll probably charge me another $100 if I want to ceramic coat it - just kidding.

You should find a new detailer

I'm going to coat my grill with something other than PPF because the slats are a bitch and it won't stay (I was told this would likely happen but did it anyway)

I haven't experienced the issue just wanted to note that. My PPF on the slats will not stay for obvious reasons so a friend of mine is going to apply a different PPF style coating that's permanent

Installed my IND grille today. This is exactly the same look I had before from when I painted it myself, but my paint job didn’t hold up. Sure hope this does. Not having the center strip painted saved some bucks, plus I like the look, but if I ever want it black, all I have to do is cover it with 3m vinyl removable tape which would make the strip look exactly like it’s been painted.

I dont think i'm going to bother. I ceramic tinted the 2 front windows at 30%. Don't feel like spending more money and doing the rears...already spent too much lol

I provided them the instructions from the other thread where the member indicated how he did it without removing the bumper. It still took the guys 4 hours to do the swap.

But let me get this straight, was the 3 hours of work just to get the grill wrapped? (The shutters area already black on the M Sport, correct?)

So how much effort is it take to exchange the grill? Is it something you can do yourself?

If it is easy enough to swap grills, I would buy a second grill, get it painted black and then (depending upon season) go all black (winter tires on black rims paired with the black grill)

A couple of really nice pics above. IMO the chrome rim looks best on all G05s with silver or machined wheels while the all black looks perfect on G05s with black wheels.

The vinyl works very well but the trick is to remove the inner slats and wrap them individually and then the surrounding piece separately as well.

Also he chose to use Avery Dennison instead of 3M as it is easier to work with.
