Some Canadians on the forum say they have received ota, so who knows. If you plan on getting a new or cpo X5 from a dealer, i'd recommend you negotiate an update before delivery (or pay the $300).

Yesterday, I did the 11.2020.50 OTA. Perhaps I was not real alert leaving OKC early this morning for the short drive to DFW, but I thought that when heating for the seats was activated so was the steering wheel. True, I could not find a setting to stipulate this and chances are this is my misperception.

I couldn't see anything new in this upgrade for my X5 in Canada. It did wipe out all the coding so I'll have to spend the time putting everything back to the way it was.

I wonder if I am at the end of the line since I had an upgrade a year or so done at the dealer. It's like I am blacklisted from ota because I have had gone down the path of paying for upgrades with dealers.

I've had 11/2020.38 installed when I took delivery in December. dunno if it came that way from the factory or done at the dealership. my Connected app doesn't show any OTA updates available for me, so I'm curious if I'm also at the end of the line.

However, I did file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau within several months of receiving my vehicle due to BMW's promise to push OTA updates. I hope this isn't one of those "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" scenarios. |

I just got the notification for 11/2020.50. its downloaded to my phone and car but I'm wary of doing the upgrade. Can you all confirm that by upgrading to this revision, you will lose the seat heating/steering wheel climate control rules feature?

I still have seat heating, but not steering wheel. Although someone has stated that for the rules, when the seats are activated, so is the wheel. I cannot confirm or deny that fact.

I did try to code Anti-Dazzle, but it seemed like mine was already setup. So that could be a cool development if that holds true for everyone. |

Also, as Dex05 indicated, you can likely get the steering wheel heat setting back for the climate rules by deleting your profile from the truck and re-adding or worst case, reset all of the settings and rebuild. (Note: There's a setting to sync your profile data with ConnectedDrive. You'd want to make sure that is happening before deleting a profile...). At least, that was the belief. I have 11/2020.50 downloaded to my truck, but won't likely install and do any needed profile/settings things until this weekend.

so all this adds is a silly lap timer, unspecified changes under the hood and takes away the really nice climate control rules steering wheel heater feature that may or may not come back if you delete and remove all of your driver profiles and then add them back? pass...

I received the 11/2020.xx OTA Tuesday, and heated seats and steering wheel remain activated automatically via Climate Rules I’d set up previously. It did alter the set temperature and fan speed on Auto, but that was a 2-second correction.

https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...9&postcount=12 Just be aware, as I mentioned in the quoted post, the coded settings don't always stick with later i-step. It may work for a week or so, and then for no apparent reason the settings will have been wiped back to unset. |

The loaner 2021 X5 40i that I drove about a month ago had Climate Control Rules for driver and passenger as well as the steering wheel heating option. This is the sloppiest technology I've ever dealt with in the 25 plus years I've been in the IT industry. I'm not a programmer but have built/installed/supported many technology systems that have all required firmware updates. Never have I seen anything as bad as this. Very sloppy haphazard integration. |
