I did too, but no tracking # when I click on the link. Nothing showing inbound either on FedEx or UPS, but I would say there is a strong chance they use DHL or someone else so not expecting to see anything there.

I followed up and they just sent me a reply today. They asked if I wanted to confirm the MMB version and then they would send the box out in 2 business days.

Turns out there is NO solution for the MMB box to pair with a phone for internet access (they only offer a 4G SIM card option).

I requested a refund and I received an email that they processed it and I would see the money in 2 days.

What a waste of time!!!

bummer, so we would need to subscribe to another data plan to use this… can’t use our phone’s hotspot, correct?

I was following this thread over a year…

Latest on their site (https://www.carplaymmb.com/products/...multimedia-box) says dual wifi and supports carplay and android auto which is all new information now. Thoughts?

That’s correct. It’s a real bummer.

I am assuming you can download films / video etc to a SD card that can be put in the MMB box and then can be watched (long journeys for passenger benefit) - I would not expect lag either on these videos.

Any further update appreciated

I suppose just getting car coded for video in motion (if you want to have passengers ability to watch stuff) and buying cheap android phone with a data sim that you keep in the car does hat can be screen mirrored gets you to the same goal? Or am I missing something?

Hi!

Is there any new info on this topic? Does any box that supports both wireless carplay connection to BMW and using hotspot from a phone already exist?

Exclamation

So there is this model available:
https://www.joyeauto.com/product/mmb...apple-carplay/

But before anyone gets too excited, I bought it and I cannot get it to connect to my 2021 BMW X5 and I also tried it on a BMW X7 sedan. Both with iDrive7.

I cant get JoyeAuto to respond to me so I dont know if it just doesn't work with the latest idrive software or if i have a defective unit.

Came pretty quick. Relatively responsive. Google Play store works. Got Plex up and running... lol. LTE data only, no passthrough CarPlay, but does have bluetooth for phone/music. GPS works decently, preloaded with Google Maps and Waze. Might play with it for a couple days and see if it's worth keeping.

Hi, I have a question for you. How did you activate the Sim card?

Thats the manufacturer. It’s the same product. There is no wireless android box solution that uses a smartphone as the source for internet.

Can you elaborate a little more on why this one won't work? I've been trying to contact the company but they respond very very slowly.

First of all, you need BMW hotspot in the car . so after one of the BMW software update, they block communication between this box in the car so when you trying to connect android box to the car, will not let you do that that’s why the new android boxes coming with his separate Sim card I had this box and it was working for a couple months, and then after software update, it’s not working anymore plus the box was very laggy. I didn’t like it so I put it on the side and use jailbroken phone with garbage.

Is the jailbroken phone your main phone, ie: the one with cellular data service? I dont want to jailbreak my main iphone but I would an older model I have lying around. But since that phone will need to use the car wifi for carplay with carbridge, how do you get data for that phone? Can you somehow tether it off your main phone?
