Thank you! Is the best practice to email the sales mgr at my local dealerships with the build and opening offer (say 12% off msrp)? Any other tips?

IMO, starting at 10% and settling between 8% and 10% is realistic. If you’re willing to travel I can hook you up with SMgr at BMW of Macon, GA. You could buy anywhere and do PCD.

Sure, that'd be great. How does that work with a trade-in?

Sell your trade locally. Carvana and Carmax are good places to get an idea of it's worth. I sold my '20 Cayenne on autotrader.com over a weekend. Or.....Fly to ATL, rent a one way Enterprise car to Macon (or any city) or drive your trade to Macon and drive your new car home. Omar Saleh is the SM at Macon. He will ship to you at a cost of course.

With PCD you fly to Greenville and drive home after Performance Center Delivery day. PCD is no charge but you pay hotel and flight. There's always a cost to doing anything beyond your local dealer but each 1% discount is worth +/- $800 on a $80k ish X5.
All of this might more hulaballoo than one wants but to some of us it's a game we love to play.

The trade in is pretty tricky. Depending on the value of the trade in it can save you thousands because you trade it in and maybe can save on on the trade in 31.5K taxes to pay because I traded in my Explorer ST. Basically saved like 3K or so in paying for taxes when ordering new vehicle.

Hey there, are you able to share the dealerships you talked to in Dallas? I guess since I'm newer to the forum, I can't DM you directly.

I can set you up with that deal without any need to negotiate.

Feel free to email your build to me at scott@insightautoconsulting.com along with how you want the car quoted, lease, finance, cash, etc.

@smithf80 I tried emailing you directly yesterday but I haven't heard back. Not sure if you are able to help a Texan with a deal.

First time BMW buyer. This forum has been super helpful in educating myself about the purchase process, discounts, rebates, negotiating tactics and evaluating options/packages.

I negotiated 9% off msrp + $2K rebates (purchase credit & conquest credit) with 2.99% apr (this includes the 1% dealer markup). I am from Austin and purchased the car from a Houston dealer.

I initially wanted to go for X5 Hybrid. After reading a number of posts, I understood that some (not all) 2025 X5 hybrid owners are getting CEL issues and my vehicle may likely spend 15 - 20 days per year (or 1st year) in the shop, if i am unlucky. Coming from lexus, I wanted reliability (My 10 year old lexus was never in the shop except for regular maintenance). This skewed me towards the ICE version as I plan to keep the vehicle for 10 years (hopefully)

My Build:

2025 X5 xDrive40i
Mineral White
Black Merino Leather
Fineline High Gloss Trim
DAPP
Parking Assistance Package
Premium Package
Climate Comfort Package
2 axle air suspension
Space Saver Spare
Rear Window Shades

Timeline:

11/9 (Sat) - Mass email campaign to Texas dealers and negotiations via email
11/11 (Mon) - Closed the deal in the afternoon. Order placed by dealer. 2 hrs later, order shows up in My Garage with status 112
11/12 (Tue) - Status shows "Production Begins". VIN Generated

Austin/Temple/San Antonio dealers offered a maximum discount of 6-7%. Dallas area dealers have not responded to my ask of 10% off msrp. Houston area dealers were very responsive and offered the best discount compared to all three regions.

Happy deal hunting you'all.

snowfish can you DM me with who in Houston you contacted. I'm also in the Austin area and experiencing medicore discounts from North and South locations. I also worry that they are low-balling trade.

I'm looking to come back to BMW (had many M4's) by purchasing a 2025 X5M Comp. I would go for a used 24 but can't seem to find the spec I like. I'm looking for either satin gray or satin black and leaning towards trauma (brown) interior but will consider red. I found a few out of state (I'm in South Florida) 25's with a spec I like. The one dealership I called is sticking with MSRP but then it will cost me an additional ~2K for shipping. BTW, they said they are sticking with MSRP because they want to sell it to someone local and they prefer to keep in the showroom.

My question - it sounds like most are getting 4% - 10% discounts off of MSRP. Does that expectation apply to new 2025 X5M in satin finish which seam to be not as common and hard to find? What do you suggest for getting the best price for a new car at a dealership or trying to get a dealership to give me their allocation to build one?

I appreciate your thoughts.

No, those discounts do not apply to the X5M. MSRP or maybe 1% is what you are looking at. Good luck in your search. Given there are no discounts you might as well just order from a local dealer.

Thanks for the quick reply and it makes sense. The dealers I called seem to have the same feeling, that they're sitting on a not as common spec and don't need to budge.

BTW, how do people feel about satin black or gray and red or brown interior? I'm so torn which combo to go with. I'm leaning towards satin gray with either brown or red interior.

Color is a personal preference. You will have just as many folks love a color/combo as there are folks that hate it. Go with what you thinks looks best.

This has been my exact experience. Austin gave me 5%, Dallas didn't respond. I also went with a dealer in Houston that gave me basically the same deal as you. I ordered mine on 10/18 and it should be here this weekend or first of next week. Congrats on your first Bimmer! I almost went the GX 550 route, but test drove it and knew I would miss the fun/sportiness of the BMW. This will be my 5th BMW and IMO they are the best!

Getting a discount on an X5M is hard, because there are so few. I haev one or two dealerships that will do a few thousand off of one. Please go to my website and fill out my form so that we can discuss it!

I saw your DM. I was unable to reply to that message privately, so I will address some of your questions here. I went to each of the dealer's website and posted the below message.

Reach out to BMW in Clear Lake (Houston), West Houston, Midtown (Houston). I got the second best offer from BMW Temple. I closed the deal with BMW Clear Lake.

My email template below:

I am planning to buy a new 2025 BMW X5 xDrive 40i. Please refer to my build code xxxxxxx for additional details. This will be a custom order. Please do not send me the list of cars on your lot unless it is a 100% match. I will be financing this car. I will not be trading my existing car.

I am requesting a 10% discount on MSRP. I am assuming you will honor the 1.99% APR rate (with no further markup) that's advertised on BMW website for the best qualified customers. If you do not, let me know. I want to place an order in the next 1 - 2 days.

If you choose to respond, I sincerely request you to please send me your best offer so that we are very respectful of each other's time. Your response is highly appreciated.
