What up everyone?!
I finally got some time to setup my account and write up my first post.
Finished Phase 1 of my small project on my 2022 X5 M50i.
Resonator delete, custom X pipe installed, BMC FB01103 intake filters installed, JB4 installed.
Dropping my car off for Phase 2 on Tuesday. (Custom muffler install.)
FYI to anyone thinking about grabbing a Dahler or comparable exhaust system… if you find the right shop, they can hook you up with a custom job for exactly the same, if not a little less than a Dahler system would cost (shipped, no install). If you can make it happen, find yourself a good exhaust shop with a skilled welder and build yourself a system to spec.
Once my guys are done, the entire job (including intake and JB4 install) will cost me around $6,000.
Sound output improved slightly with x-pipe (especially on cold start revs) Map 1 benefits from JB4 were noticeable.
More pics and feedback to come once Phase 2 is complete.

are you saying the Dahler system would actually end up being cheaper?

I am local in Chicago. Would love to be able to hear your setup.

Depending on the parts you select, it could go either way, but all I’m saying is the two options will be very close in cost. Don’t get me wrong, the Dahler system is really nice, but has a couple quirks… one being you have to remove the exhaust tip heat shield to get it to fit, which we technically paid for… and I also paid extra to have them powder coated black after the paint started peeling off the original set.
I was planning on going with a Valvetronic system to maintain the valve control option, however due to the limited space that we have to work with in the back, I decided to skip the valved muffler system and just go with a pair of non-valved mufflers. At this point, with the pivot away from Valvetronic, the estimated total is right around $5,200… again that includes the JB4 and intake install.
More updates to come soon!!

Phase 2 complete!
I’m a big fan of the new look and the sound output.
No where near too loud when you go easy on the throttle (almost unnoticeable when cruising at low rpm) but finally sounds the way you’d expect when you put your foot down.
I’ll post a video clip or two over the weekend.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Total cost of the exhaust work was just under $5,000.
God speed!

Thanks for sharing! Setup looks solid. I’ve got a custom titanium exhaust coming in two weeks. Will start my own thread.

Can’t wait to hear sound clips of your system.

Here it is.
Hope it captured well and sounds good on your end. Had to keep it to a minimum due to sleeping kids.
I’ll post another one with better revs shortly.
Enjoy and good luck with your project!

Love it! Investment was well worth it.
Makes every trip a completely different experience. It even added a mild burble without any real tuning. Almost like a completely different car now. I recommend doing similar work to anyone with an M50i. Let me know if you have any questions.

Some good suggestions, I will try the resonator delete first and then play with the exhaust on my m50i. My S63 and C63 resonator delete was perfect

Sounds really good. What brand mufflers did you use?

Nice video! That’s the VT system that we decided not to go with and built a custom exhaust without the valves instead. I have to admit, I really wanted the valves to go between loud and quiet whenever I wanted… but the truth is, the custom exhaust was less expensive and the sound output is perfect in my opinion!
Besides the occasional late night cold starts when the kids are sleeping… I never even think about having valves to make the exhaust quieter. I also had no idea how nice it actually sounded on the road (especially when you build up boost and then take your foot off the gas) the parked cold starts are nice, but nothing like it sounds while driving.
Now that the weather’s shifting, I’ll grab some better vids and sound clips and post them for you guys to check out. Not saying the VT system won’t be awesome… just saying I wanted it, was going to pay for it, but my mechanics recommendation to go another route didn’t make me regret it for a second in the end!
Once again, good luck with your projects!!

We used a pair of Vibrant StreetPower Oval Mufflers - 5x9x15 with 3” in/out Center/Center.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
