I don’t use the navigation on the system, that subscription ran out. So, like you, I use my phones Navi (for the real time traffic, etc.). If Thai gets fixed and it happens again, like it seems to be entirely possible based on this forum post, definitely going to sell the thing. Haha
That is interesting. So CPO warranty excludes certain parts? And the GPS module is the part not covered? Anyhow, have you tried different dealers? My experience tells me some dealer can be more flexible on policies than others. Or maybe CPO only covered by the dealer the car was bought from. That suck if it is the case.

oh well, I guess we are luckier than the ones bought the new 50e. Seems that one has tons of problems. I just wish coding the car can be done in independent garages. So I do not have to deal with the dealer's absurd charges. I thought it should be possible since Safelite does replace BMW windshield that they are able to calibrate all the cameras and sensors attached to it. So seems they have access to BMW's latest software.

Many things are excluded from a CPO warranty (see attached). Even though the CPO covers all of the electronic parts my guess is that they are denying it since it specifically is stated it does not cover water leaks.

If I were concerned about this, I would run a fine bead of cyanoacrylate adhesive ('Super Glue' - the watery version) around the very edge of that shark fin! ...and where it wicks in quickly, add significantly more!

I see. But if the water leak is due to a design flaw, IMO, it should be still be covered. I can understand why water leak from owners' incidents should not be covered, but this is clearly on BMW as the BMW bulletins show in previous reply.

Since the OP's is a 2019 it wouldn't be covered by that SIB. I thought there was an earlier one though, maybe someone has it.

Going through this now and considering replacing hardware myself. Did the dealer program for you after replacement?

Seems like they might be against this or charge out the wazoo for something like that.

Does anyone think something like a silicone or window caulk around the module would work?

I used clear silicone around the sharks fin when I replaced it on my wife's GTi. If you're good at caulking, you won't even see it when done. Proper prep is essential, meaning a good cleaning of the area with alcohol and then a firm press when applying. It's been a year and no leaks.

Went to the AD yesterday to get this all sorted finally. They quoted $630 to do the programming and update the software.

Shortly after leaving they called saying that the TCB (TCM) is dead and there was no communication to the unit. Advised that I didn't install it properly. I told them that this was a simple replacement and that I had purchased all OE parts from a different AD and that I highly doubt it was not installed properly. They said they would do an inspection to see the issue but I would be charged. Gave them the green light, was worried af that there was another water leak!!

Turns out that there was blown fuse. Part # 61-13-6-917-401 Fuse Mini, Yellow-Brown

So all parts that were replaced were the Cap, Antenna, TCM unit, Battery and a fuse

So far everything is working fine, software is 03/2024

Good luck for anyone doing this DIY

Do you think this problem will affect the X5 2024 LCI? I wonder if BMW has changed the technical design of the fin in the LCI?
