Sounds like it is still a quiet car. Thank you for the feedback.

On the other hand MDX for instance has acoustic glass but it is way way louder on the highway than my Macan Turbo (which has the acoustic glass option). Was really disappointed I had to practically shout to talk to my dad at 80mph. The Macan with the acoustic glass option was much quieter.

I'm assuming the X7 is significantly quieter than an X5 on the highway?

I don't think anything is "significantly" quieter on the highway. The X5 is super freaking quiet. Stuff could be more quiet, but you're not talking about a difference that's like "can't talk at highway speeds" to "can hear your SO squeak out a fart". Maybe something where if you're looking to tell the difference you can, but nothing I'd say is game changing.

That said, BY FAR the loudest part of the drove in my X5 is the 22" wheels and tires. If you're concerned about noise, definitely go with the 20" wheels.

All modern windshields are laminated, that's for safety reasons, this is the glass you see in movies when after breaking it stays in place and they have to kick it out. Older ones where only one sheet of tempered glass, and I suppose very, very old, ancient ones where common glass.

Acoustic glass for the door windows is usually laminated, you can see it when rolling down the windows, the glass edge shows that it is not one piece but two joined by a very thin plastic, all glued together. This is a very common glass manufacturing process also used for high end building purposes.

What is the challenge level on a 1-10 scale to purchase the acoustic glass and do the swap yourself? Surprisingly few tutorials online for glass removal on the G05.
