Exhaust on the passenger side not working

I have been reading here and got mixed answers. I was just curious why the passenger / right aode exhaust looks like a dummy?

Wait what? It is not a dummy. There is a valve that opens when needed.

Not sure where you got mixed answers from. It is definitely not a dummy and it stays closed until you are over 3k rpms or so.

For the pre-LCI, you can use BimmerLink to manually open it. I’m not sure if BimmerLink works on the LCI. Can anyone chime in?

Best you can do on the LCI (without changing out the exhaust or adding a controller) is manually keeping the valves open. Not the most elegant solution but certainly easy enough to give it a try.

Disconnect the 4 pin connector.
From the description above "...the preferred position with a detected fault (for example failure of PWM signal) ... is the open position."

I checked it and when it’s off seems like the valve is always closed I may look again and double check this

Well just to update everyone I ended up doing what that member with disconnecting it and safety wire to hold the valve open def sounds louder and at certain speeds does drone pretty crazy in the cabin. Does sound good tho I’ll get a video tomorrow. At cruising 50 mph, 60mph, and low 70mph drone goes away and comes back if you go on a slight incline. I think for now I’ll leave it see if I like it on my commutes.

Did we just travel back to 2015 when this wasn't common knowledge on almost every split exhaust bmw? Not trying to be "that guy" but any quick search almost anywhere on the internet would have answered that question.
