For anyone ready enough to actually get into ESys (beyond an utter coding amateur, but not necessarily a super coder), today I would actually recommend the MHD WiFi adapter. As long as you keep in mind that you need to unplug it when leaving/locking the car (otherwise it will drain battery and/or trigger alarm due to excess power leakage detection circuitry in the car), it allows both fast BimmerCode coding as well as both wired and (with additional configuration) wireless ESys coding.
