They would have to show that the coding you did caused the problem you are having. That would be an unlikely scenario.

Agreed, I have been using video in motion probably for 6 years already, no issues whatsoever and dealer never detected the coding

Though I haven't tried but you could try getting an HDMI to USB adapter off Amazon and see if it works.

It's one thing to watch movies while you're in park, it's another entirely if you do while moving. The later is illegal everywhere in the USA. The odds are not high of getting caught, but if you are, it can be a pretty serious hit.

Why do BMW lock this feature?
Had default ON with a F30 in Australia Just got the ID8.5 and it's turned OFF. Can't code anything at all 😞 Bimmercode don't give up. |

it's been discussed in other threads that coding isn't possible on 2024 X5 anymore due to BMW locking the modules (or something like that). no fix from BimmerCode at this time...and seems unlikely

While in park, you should be able to watch video. In some markets, you can watch video while moving, but that's illegal in the USA. If you have the video on a USB stick, you should be able to see that to select...not sure about streaming from a phone.

Good grief, now we are looking to watch movies while driving? I guess texting while driving isn't bad enough. Really stupid stuff.
I can just see some of these monkeys around here cutting across three lanes of traffic 30 MPH over the speed limit to get one car length ahead at the next red light while taking in a good movie. Wow, just wow. |

FWIW, VIM (video in motion) is legal in some parts of the world, but is not in the USA, so it is disabled except when in park in the USA. But, there's a company that has been around for years that sells a USB stick that reprograms (most?) BMWs to enable that function, and it's codable with some tools like BimmerCode, at least on some models. Mercedes has a polarized screen where the central screen on some models will let the passenger watch a movie that is blocked from the driver's seat through some neat optics. The OPs request was how to watch a movie while he was parked at a charging station...this is possible from what I hear, but I've not tried it.

Yeah on my previous F30 3 series in bimmercode you could turn on video while driving.
OMG I never turned that on a disaster ready to happen. The Merc and Range Rover screen is a good safe way. |

You can utilize the built-in entertainment system by connecting a USB thumb drive with compatible media files. However, streaming YouTube directly onto the screen may not be possible without additional hardware or software modifications, as iDrive 7 typically doesn't support direct streaming from online platforms like YouTube.
