50i M Sport- is DHP a must?

Is DHP a must have over the standard Adaptive M suspension? Pretty pricy option. Is it really worth it?

I am hoping there will be some reviews soon with comparisons with and without DHP. Curious if I wouldn’t miss it if didn’t try it. Kind of like flying first class...

I sure wish I had it on my F15 50i and it will be on my G05. Also 50i drives “heavier” than the 6 cylinder.

I'd say absolutely worth it

Got to drive a 50i MSport on Friday. I had already driven a base 40i XLine and thought that while a solid overall driver, the car still had a bit too much body roll on harder/higher-speed cornering. Folks were telling me that the MSport adaptive dampers are tuned more firmly than the XLine versions and I think that is an accurate assessment. However, I still felt way too much body roll for my taste on the 50i MSport. The DHP should cure that. I know how effective it is on the F15 generation (since I have a 35i w/DHP) and can't imaging it being any less effective on the G05. I would say the ARS is easily worth $2,000 alone. Considering that you get the Msport differential, MSport brakes ($650 alone) and the integral active steering, the $3,650 overall charge for the DHP on the 50i seems like a fair deal to me. If I bump up to a 50i, I wouldn't think twice about ordering the DHP. I'd gladly sacrifice some things like the Driving Assistance Package ($1,700) and the leather wrapped dash ($1,200) in exchange if I had to keep the $$$ down. I value the driving experience and overall performance over luxury though. Your preferences may be different than mine. Of course, I would also want the 2-axle air suspension with the DHP so that I could lower the car's center of gravity in sport/sport+ modes for an even better driving experience.

Also, the 50i friggin' MOVES by the way. I mean absolutely neck-snapping torque at pretty much any speed. It barely feels like the engine is working. Simply effortless feeling. I am now seriously considering finding another 10K to bump to the 50i. I can only imagine how insane the 2020 M50i with the new 530-horse engine will feel next year (nevermind the upcoming X5M). It should be a 4.0-4.2 sec to 60 machine. I have a feeling folks will be getting around 4.4 with this 50i when they start hooking up their VBoxes

I remember someone once told me, the X5 with dhp drives like a 3 series, and without dhp, it drives like a 7 series......

That is a perfect summary. I can't push my 35i w/DHP quite as hard as my 340 through turns (weight/center of gravity/physics/etc eventually do take hold) but I can drive it at darn near 85% of what I would do in my 3. There aren't too many SUVs out there that can do this.

I still can't stress enough that if you are someone who does NOT drive your vehicles that hard, you probably don't need the DHP. But if you DO drive hard then the option should be a no-brainer.

If you order a 50i M Sport with DHP does it change the ride height of the X5 compared to the M Sport without DHP.

Thanks for the info. Audi S6 is current and previous car. Before that it was an E92 M3. Sounds like I would appreciate DHP.
