Old post I know, but have you stayed with this double H pipe setup? I too do not like the raspy crackel and pop. You mentioned it wasn't as loud as you might have hoped. I wondr if a single H would make the difference in the volume you had hoped for.

Anyone have a link to an X-pipe that worked well? I am going to replace the resonator with an x-pipe.

Man, the lack of exhaust options for our platform is unfortunate. I REALLY like the daHler setup, but that price tag. I wonder if there is a way to do a setup like hufington has, but keep the factory flaps. hmm

X pipes are easily available, try asking to any reputable exhaust shop near you coz thats what i did and got it installed for $200.

It's true that Dahler is very expensive and its always on backorder , that's why i went with catless DP, xpipe and a flap controller and I'm happy with the sound and in future whenever i feel like selling my car i can just swap catless dp with stock downpipes .
Its a cheaper option than dahler but requires more labor and time .

Yeah not sure if I want if I want to commit to the catless DP’s. I’m in CA and it is mainly the wife’s daily. Not sure if I want the headache. Probably a stupid question, but what is the difference between factory flaps and the aftermarket flap controller?

It keeps the flaps permanently open or it comes with a remote you can open or close whenever you want, it comes with memory function .

Ah I gotcha, so instead of opening the flaps and pulling the fuse, you still have the ability to control it. So you kept the stock muffler then right?

FYI,
X-pipe will actually quiter the exhaust, belive it or not. And I know because I went throught all those options.
I said in previous post that the m50i resonators are stright pipes inside with one pipe having a bounch of baffle holes.

Here is a vid with my leates on, AA catted DP and stock resonator back in. Previous one were.

1- Stock + Resonator delete(Straight Pipes)
2- AA DP + Resonator delete(Straight Pipes)
3- AA DP + Resonator delete(X-Pipe)
4- AA DP + Stock resonator. Video below

Sounds really good. I really wanna figure out something without doing DP’s. which might be muffler delete/add 2 separate resonators

I had it without DP on first option. Go to my channel or back on this thread and find the video of stock dp with resonator delete, streaight pips. It was good too. But I wanted the power of the dp.

yoandry First off, thanks a ton for all the videos. Your car sounds amazing.

I think I want to go with just the DP and keep the stock res. However, did you have to get your car tuned after installing the DP's? Were any error codes thrown after installation?

Thanks,

In my case I had a tune first(RC Black GTS) then I installed the DP. But you shouldn't get any code without a tune, they only one you will get ofcourse is the CEL related to the DP if its catless.

Google says so.
"A resonator delete can also reduce your engine efficiency. It affects the back pressure of the exhaust gases, which may amount to more fuel consumption."

I'm also in Sydney, I'm tempted to remove the resonator or muffler.
Hi
Wondering if you've done any mods.
I called the HiTech and asked for a price on H pipe and his reply was don't listen to forums on bimmerpost. The videos on here the H is great, also so so so expensive for two prices of straight pipe that people in the USA do for a few hundred... Was between one or two thousand in Sydney.

Hi
What's the chances you would have starts with all of the above with a warm engines?

Many of my cars sound good from the factory initially before they warm up.

What would your configurator be for someone that wants a V8 sound but not too loud like the last video for my neighbours :-)

I didn’t see this mentioned, but the easiest way to permanently open the exhaust flaps is to use Bimmer Link and open the flaps, then while the flaps are open, remove the fuse F203 … or you can unclip the connector at the flap… I pulled the fuse. It took about 5 minutes and required zero skill. I hear pros and cons, since the flaps open at 4k rpm, but imo it is an improvement- I’ve got H&R springs on my M50i and I am contemplating the catted downpipes and a tune. Wanted to get some miles on her first.

With warm engine sometimes the start up are the same, the other times are just a little less.

Got them from amazon, but these aren't just to bolt on on the factory pipes. Customization are needed. See first link to another thread on exhaust tips option.
