Curb rash.. experience with DIY kits?

Scraped my 742M black rim. Pretty noticeable on a glossy black rim.

Indy shop wanted $200.

I don't mind paying but knowing this might happen again, anyone have experience using a 'repair kit'. ?

Thanks,

The question is, what are they doing for $200?

Some shops won't just repair a rim, but insist on a complete resurfacing of (at least) the entire flat surface.

I curbed a clear-coated brushed aluminum rim, and self- repair was near impossible. The clear coat on those rims was the hardest coating I've ever encountered.
