Anyone know if they have replacement mirror housing or caps available in gloss black? If so, is it a fairly easy do-it-yourself?

If not available, anyone vinyl wrap their mirror housing?

Yup I want to do this too so following with interest to see if it’s cheaper than getting my dealer to spray before collection.

I went with some gloss black M style side mirror caps sourced from Amazon. Decent quality, great looks, really good fitment. If interested, search Amazon ‘SNA Side Mirror Caps for BMW X3 G01 X4 G02 X5 G05 X7 G07’. Reasonable price and DIY installation was a breeze.

Hmm, those carbon ones are nice too.

Everyone says it’s easy to DIY, but how much would a dealer charge to swap those out (I know it’s going to be expensive)? I watched the YouTube video on it, but knowing me I would likely break the mirror and end up going to the dealer to fix it all to begin with.

I was pretty much born with two left hands and I managed to do it myself. I did buy a set of plastic prying tools from Amazon for 7 EUR or so to help me out a bit, but the swap is straight out simple. I also put some painters tape on the bottom edge of the mirror glass where you touch it with the prying tool...just to be on the safe side.

It's up to you, I just didn't feel like setting up the appointment with BMW, driving there, leaving the car probably for half a day and then on top of all that hassle also pay for it. I felt like if I break that mirror it was still worth trying

99.9% dealers simply wouldn't do it as it's not an OEM part.

Those that would do it would be doing as a favour to you as a customer and would most likely not charge at all.

Mine are on the G06. Any Ebay mirror caps for X5 will fit also the X6...

Would anyone mind linking to some good OEM replica carbon and gloss black mirror caps? It doesn’t necessarily have to be the M style either. I would prefer to see those available outside of eBay as well if possible.
