One that buys a car, doesn't baby it, and is still happy with it 10 years later? OK. Yeah, I would think most car companies would be happy with that. I would think most consumers would be happy with that.
No, I meant one that humble-brags about buying a $90k x5 and then swaps it out for a new one after 5-6 years, and is satisfied with 5-6 years trouble free experience as stated in your original response.

Considering the subject matter of this forum, I'm not sure why this would be considered a humble-brag. Why would anyone on a BMW forum be impressed with buying a BMW. And considering you were harping on the companies supposed pre-occupation with cars lasting just long enough to get through a 3 year lease period, then it was perfectly appropriate to point out that I have kept multiple vehicles longer than that, vehicles that I have let idle while warming up, and haven't had any problems.
This thread took a left turn a long time ago.
If you like the idea of remote start, get it, use it, enjoy it. Letting it idle for 5 or 10 minutes a couple dozen times a year isn't going to cause your engine to seize up.
If you don't like the idea of remote start, don't use it.

It's pretty straightforward - many of the members on this forum purchase their Bmw 2nd hand, and a large (majority?) % of this forum's population is purchasing 1, 2, 3, 4 series vehicles that cost vastly less than the what you are referencing, which is someone buying a new $90k x5 every 5-6 years in addition to owning and tracking an m3. Your comments exclude used car buyers.

this feature may be great for folks who throw away their cars after lease or 5-6 years, but kinda sucks for those who purchase used or second hand in cold climates. With 4 months or more of freezing temps in much of the country, that's a lot of mornings and evenings of automatic cold start idles and the time spent in that condition can add up after several years. As we know, YMMV.

My 2007 n54 has 145k Miles, and I've rarely let it sit at idle in below freezing temps - I prefer to get it moving right away as the Bmw engineers have directed us to do.
