Everything looks great except the beginning of the end of the iconic kidney grill. Buck teeth. The streamlined and thinner lights at the back look fabulous but the front grill make a mess of the first impression.
Interior is outstanding.

Undoubtedly more modern and geometric but not completely sold if it's a better overall design. Although, I am excited that BMW finally has a different interior design language...the present design DNA on most of their other cars are so dated and boring. Hope it filters down newer models quickly.

These are "sculpted" 3D light similar to X3, and the effect does not show well in photos. They should look quite distinctive at night.

Ugly front grille, looks way too big. Hopefully BMW is not going to put that format on new M cars

I am now concerned for the future of the kidney grills on all BMW's. I really don't understand the design decision. I know some choices can be initially polarizing but I am personally really rooting for this one to not trickle down to the coupes.

Finally a real upgrade over the E70. For me the F15 is just a LCI.

Strongly disagree. It gives it serious presence in my opinion

You're mostly right given the fact that same old platform was used. That's the real reason the x5 was discontinued so fast

When it is time to trade in my F15, I might opt for the new X3, given not so excited about this new X5 The X5 is getting too big imho

I'm getting use to that grill to the point where I like it more than the old one. Maybe my eyes are crossed or something. I also love the rear and the new M Sport-ish steering wheel. Looks like the one in the M5 which should match the gauge eyebrows on the cluster: not quite round with the kinks in it. Very nice variation of the round M wheel.

Love the looks in comparison to the F15. I really liked the F15 but it looks a bit dated in this side-by-side tbh.

Serious question- did Bmw make the moonroof open above the roof? I sure hope not! X3 does now.

Thanks for any answers people might have by looking at the pic of design. Looks like the x3 roof.

So thankful the 540 opens in the car still...

Good job BMW, i'm just waiting on the X7, if this is the new X5 then the X7 will be my kind of vehicle.
release it already!!!
So tacky strips of chrome everywhere plus some toy-ish in-your-face blue accents which will probably light up in multiple colors means "proper luxury interior" ? As much as I like the new exterior a lot over the previous X5 (which was really a big step backward, this barely fixes it), the interior is tackier and uglier to me.

What’s the third row seating going to be like with the extra space? Still an afterthought?
