To those that were told that 3rd row is discontinued, did you have an order placed that was canceled? As of this afternoon, my dealer told me that our order was still going to be fulfilled. They just could not place any new orders. Just wondering if I need to start looking at my options.

so I genuinely wanted 3rd row seat.. for actual seating capacity.. my order was not canceled by BMW.. but by me. I am tired of waiting and tired of BMWs bullshit. I do not believe for a second that they have "Supplier issues". company that excels at logistics that can custom build car in a week and has supplier issues? BULLSHIT BMW! having said that..

I told my dealer to cancel thrid row seat car and order me plain msport with IAS. That was friday. As of today, my new order is not accepted, because when dealer adds IAS, BMW ordering system ... guess what... adds 3rd row option!!!

so now, I am facing more delays because BMW ordering system is crapping out when AIR and IAS is being ordered.

I am beginning to think that someone up there is giving me a hint and does not want me to have BMW number 10 or so..

I spoke w a buddy who took delivery of a G05 w 3rd row. He said it's comical how useless the 3rd is. He is 5'10 and wife 5'5 and neither could fit back there. There 8yr old was fine, but not their 12yo son. Sounds like nothing is lost for folks that were waiting on the 3rd row...but come on BMW!! I had a 3rd row in my old 2004 XC90 and used it all the time w all ages. We can do better!

Third row 2019 X5

Mine is due to arrive on the 15th of March. However, I received an email from my dealer telling me that BMW has put a stop on all third row orders until further notice. The option is not even available on the website as of today. In all, only 39 made it out to production, mine being one of them. So if you ordered one and your status is anything beyond "dispatched from factory" then you're good to go. If not then you may want to contact your dealer because there may have bad news waiting for you.

Maybe they will add standard sliding seats for the X5 and give more legroom. Best proposal if you want a 7 seater get an X7.

WOW, That changed fast. My M50D went into production yesterday with 3rd row. I't was originally a week 50 build that got pushed to late april because of shortage of laser lights so I'm technically 12 weeks behind, but last time I checked I was scheduled 5 weeks later so I'm happy.

Has he shifted the 2nd row forward? It's not ideal but it's also perfectly usable - again - especially if you put the middle section down. It's a great option and is worth the wait.

I hear the 3rd seat shortage was due to Magna sewing the third row covers inside-out, therefore couldn't be used.

(sorry...couldn't resist).

I just confirmed with both my dealer and through the Genius phone number that I am still scheduled for week 11 production. They both acknowledged that there are supply issues with 3rd row orders and they are no longer being taken, but mine is still set to go. Fingers crossed.

Hi Chris, when you said week 11, what date did you order it and what date is week 11 to begin production?
I want to get an idea of when mine is since i placed my order on 2/6. thanks

dream54ing - I placed my order on 2/23, but my dealer already had production spots for March, so I was able to get in on one of those. I am not 100% on this, but I believe week 11 is the week of 3/18, which is the week it will complete. There is another thread with someone who has a week 10 build that just started today (3/5). So, hopefully mine will start next week. (This is my first BMW so if I am wrong about any of this, please correct me it.)

Wow. Even with the G07, I'm surprised that they're canceling 3rd row in G05. Wonder what the true story really is.

I placed my order on 1/11/19 and my X5 is awaiting carrier assignment. It's hard to believe that it's a parts shortage. More like they want to force people to buy an X7. I would have gladly purchased an X7 but the idea of paying MSRP or more on a BMW is ridiculous. Especially when you can get such steep discounts on an X5.

I don't care about the 3rd row per se, but I am disappointed that the second row has no adjustments and briefly considered adding the 3rd row to get them (glad now I passed).

Still, I'm quite surprised (bummed/upset) about the fixed second row. Seems short-sighted by BMW. My 535iGT has them and I much prefer the reclined setting on those rare occasions I find myself in the back.

Why not at least offer the sliding/reclining second row as an option?

THAT is a good question!

After all, they did that before on the previous X5. I'm hoping to see that option for MY20...

Not about everywhere else, but in Arizona, the savings is similar across the board for most people that know about the rebates/offers and willing to "work" the dealers we got about 11% off msrp, but we know we could of gotten more. we just wanted to to place our order, so gave in and settled.

I'm from Arizona but live in Texas now. Dealers there like here suck which is why I bought mine out of state.
