Stop production re Laser Lights!

Just received an email stating a stop production on all X5's as they are removing the Laser Lights. They are giving a $1,000 credit. This is disappointing. Mine is a Canadian car. Not sure if this impacts the US.

Ok, my dealer said mine was one of the last ones produced with Laser Lights. I'm happy.

This is what I got. I'm not sure if this only impacts the Canadian vehicles or is North American wide.

They didn't say. I have to go in to the dealership this Thursday evening for the X7 launch / reception. I'll see what I can find.

Mine is en route from the factory via train with Laserlights (to Vancouver, BC) so I must be one of the last to have them fitted. The email says "stop delivery" not "stop manufacture" which is odd phraseology.

Thinking out loud.....Perhaps they figured out a manufacturing problem with curb lighting.

Or all the parts are going to X7's including the mythical 3rd row option and now the laser lights. I don't recall BMW ever having this many issues with their suppliers at launch. Crazy....

I think the issue is BMW has 2 completely new popular vehicles launched close together. The X5 and X7. Then factor in new iDrive and you have a lot of factors outside of what BMW has typically done before.

We really don’t know anything at this point. It’s been all speculation for months now.

I'm disappointed but it's not the end of the world. Seems illogical that BMWNA would offer and build vehicles with features that are not approved for use unless they were fairly certain that these features would soon he approved.
