So, how many of us are gonna call up our local service agent and ask them to do the same update to our vehicles?

I've attached two photos to show you that the cornering lights are working, but the video I have is much better.

mbarrett635, could you by chance put up a photo of the work order papers for your car? You can black out name/address/etc. Might be a good idea that we all had a work order # that we could reference for our dealers. Perhaps they can look up the work performed on your car and apply the same fix to all the rest of ours.

Here you go. I only included the relevant pages; pages 1 and 4 relate to my replacement windshield, and the replacement wood trim in the center console that was scratched on delivery.

^ Sun Motors, drive by them every year when I go back to visit my folks who live in Mechanicsburg. I gather from the service they gave you they are a good place to deal with just in case I need anything while I'm back there, would you recommend them?

Just for the record...Only the laser headlights have the cornering lights?

I saw another post that showed a diagram and the base LED headlights supposedly had them too.

I've been dealing with these folks for 31 years (longer than they were Sun Motors -- used to be Cumberland Valley Motors). Many of the staff have been there that long. The shop foreman I mentioned has been there 46 years. They are honest, hard working, and have always treated me right. I've seen many sleazy dealership (and even worked for one, briefly); this is NOT one of those. They've earned my business and my trust.

That's the one thing I failed to lock down during my discussions yesterday. It's my understanding that not all of the new X5's have cornering lights, but I'm not sure what the distinction is. Probably only those with Laser lights, but I can't swear to that.

If I remember correctly, the tech documents show the cornering lights on the non-laser but the X5s that are being produced is using a different headlight assembly and they don't have the cornering lights.

PS. Thanks mbarrett635 for the info.

Thank you!! I'll bring these with us to our appointment...which may be next week now (dealer didn't have a loaner for us this week).

Thanks for this info. I have purchased numerous vehicles from them since 1990 but not my X5. I hope the dealer I bought it from can perform this work. Do you know what software version your vehicle has after this update?

Hey mbarrett,

Did the software update also fix your BC button issue? I have the same issue and dealer doesn't know how to fix.

The technical manuals do indeed show cornering lights on both the laser on non-laser units. Obviously can't say what is actually rolling off the line, or what software is enabled, but theoretically both should have the cornering light hardware.

I found the thread, there are a number of folks who posted pictures of their non-laser lights and they don't have the cutout for the cornering lights.

That’s correct. Non-Laser headlights in the US do not have the cornering lights. However in Europe (and perhaps other countries as well) the non-laser lights DO have them. There were a couple photos posted somewhere showing that.
