X5M / X6M wheels

I have a set of winter tires / wheels from a 2016 X5M. Will they fit 2020 X6M ?

No. Bmw switched the bolt pattern on the recent X5 to 5x112 instead of 5x120 like all older bmws.

Thanks BMW. Wonder what the reason for this is besides making things incompatible.

Completely different vehicle and departure from last few generations of SAV. When they say “all new” it truly is this time.

Anyone know if you can put bigger wheels on without modification/rubbing? I was wondering if you can do 22" in the front or even push to 23" all around? Would this help with the wheel gap issue? I am looking at some Vosson wheels and wondering if I can go bigger. The car is so new that no one seems to have any experience yet.

23" or even 24" wheels will fit without any rubbing or modifications at least on stock height.
23" perfect visual fit, 24" a bit too much...

23" or 24" all around

This is a complicated question. As you go larger in wheel diameter and shorter in tire ratio, it actually accentuates the wheel gap. In other words... it gives the illusion that the wheel gap is greater... not less. You could go with a taller tire ratio to fill the gap.... but that would increase the overall height of the car... which definitely wouldn't look good.

Hence.... the reason why when people go up +1 or +2 inches in wheel diameter, it is generally accompanied by a small drop/lowering of the suspension.

22s are common. Just keep within acceptable et/offset, lug pattern, and wheel width.

I've seen 23s, but only on the Hamann X5.... but of course, it was lowered as well. They appear quite large... not sure about 23s.... kinda pushing it.

You could probably do 24s with a really thin tire... but it would look stupid. the X5 isn't large enough to pull off 24s without making it look like a Donk.

Thanks for the input.

I want to wait and see some pictures of people who have done them in 22" and 23" to see how it looks. If anyone puts non-stock wheels on a an X5M or X6M please post photos.

I am hesitant to mess with the suspension or ride height just because the adaptive suspension is really nice. My assumption is if I mess with that I will lose the variability. Is that accurate?

Thx,

Nick

I think 23” is borderline too big. 24”s is donk-like.

agree on 24" as for 23" they just fine with stock height and aero kit around, they might be bit too big after the lowering but we yet to see that!
