The other packages are still available in Finland, but Merino Leather has been removed.

yeah, you might be right on that. there's a chance BMW axed it, as unlike full leather, heated/chilled cup holders, alcantara headliner etc, it's not even available on the X5 M.

Am I the only person here who thinks some of these options are kinda ridiculous. I mean "heated and cooled" cup holders, "soft close" doors, "massaging" seats, what a bunch of soft ball crap. Who needs this junk?

I rarely use the soft close doors, passengers never do as they’re unaware of the feature.

Heated/cooled cup holders work like a gem. I didn’t realize that also has been deleted.

Massage seats are misleading. They’re far from a massage, they do move your hips and back slightly so on long trips it helps from getting stiff

Has anyone added acoustic glass to their 2021 after receiving it? If so, how much was it?

Even though they were all options, no one likes it when things are taken away. I think that's the biggest gripe. And in this hyper competitive luxury vehicle space, if you don't keep offering these types of features, and finding new ones like gesture control and laser headlights, you fall behind and the next thing you know, you're like Acura and Infiniti.

That's just the nature of the beast. You can get a Ram TRX with heated and cooled front AND rear seats nowadays.

When you're spending $75K+ for a SAV, you expect options similar to these from a German automaker and 5/X5 Series models and higher. If BMW wasn't competitive in this class, how many sales would they loose to MB-Audi-Porsche and other brands that offer these features? And for less (Acura, Genesis, etc)

Perusing the 3 Series forum, plenty of owners or potential buyers requests for ventilated seats (available for MY21 4 Series) and X3/X4 forums - massaging.

Whether you need them or not is up to the buyer to decide which is why they're options (unfortunately some bundled with more expensive packages)

*Typing this message while I'm getting my morning back massage in X5's my multi-contour ventilated and massaging seats.*

There was a poster on here who did the swap out. Dealer did it for him and I want to say the cost was $600 per window (drivers/passenger side) plus labor which I believe was another 200 bucks. Don't quote me on those numbers.

Edit: Found the link to the thread discussing the retrofit. This wasn't for a 2021, but I imagine it's the same. Glass was $425 per window and he got it installed at the dealership for $200 per window. Total cost of about $1,200.

This. Audi's MY21 Q7/Q8 has many of BMW's missing features, and MB does as well in the same product range. Someone likes them (automobile manufacturers are not in the habit of adding options no one will buy). If they're important to you, you'll buy something other than BMW in 2021. That's why it matters.

I get that.
Rented a vehicle about a year ago and was switched to a Nissan pick-up brand new with 200 miles on it. I was shocked at how archaic this thing was along with terrible road manners. It was like a new vehicle from 15 years ago, hard to believe anyone buys that crap.

I was actually pretty upset that red calipers and carbon interior trim weren't available in 2020....

But now that I see everything that was taken away in 2021?? Maybe it's not so bad.

I can paint/powder coat my calipers..... and aftermarket CF trim will be readily available soon.

But soft close doors, acoustic glass, heated/cooled cupholders...... all silly things..... but not so silly when you think about what is required to retrofit them.

The soft close doors and the heated/cooled cup holders have to be 2 of the most ridiculous options ever offered. For Gods sakes, I can close the doors on my X5 by pushing it with one finger. How "soft" does the world need to be for some of us.

I have had soft close doors for over 7 years and ordered them for my X5 as well. Missing soft close doors was one reason I turned down the Jaguar I-Pace.

I also ordered heated/cooled cup holders. I hope they can keep my Coca Cola can cool on long trips (as BMW doesn't have cooled glove boxes like my Saabs did).
