Went to place order for 2019 X5 today and was greeted with bad news. If you are building the new X5 with BW audio package the production will not begin until April 2019 (as of right now). This puts a damper on my plans but unless something changes looks like I will not bein in one until Summer 2019. Perhaps it may be time to consider the X7.

Since when? mine has the B&W system and is due for production ovce the ZPK shortage gets worked out

As of today. Customer sold units with BW will not go into production until April 2019.

I order my with the BW too and week 51, production began 12/17 and I just call today and they confirm the Vehicle will be finish by 1/3. My is 50i with 100% option between Dynamic handling and comfort air suspension, I choose air suspension

I was supposed to have mine built in DEC, yet starts production now in the 2nd week of JAN (confirmed by the dealer). Delivery: 1st week of FEB. Perhaps we're talking here about NEW orders and not delayed placed orders. On a positive note...such a delay might give us a chance to get a car with less "new car issues" as they have more time to fix them :-)

Lol no I'd just cancel my order at that point. There are B&W units in production and ones that are in customers hands so until I hear my car is affected I'm going to play it cool

I am going to go to another dealership and try to submit my build. I will report back but the people on here are mentioning already ordered vehicles I am strictly referring to and order I tried to place today in the ONLY BMW corporate store in the USA. I have to imagine their information is pretty accurate.

Another dealership stated the same but this time for both X5 and X7. New orders including BW will not be available until April 2019.

I was told BW only went into production December 2018. If you're taking delivery and it does indeed have BW you're one of the lucky few otherwise nothing until Spring.

So far none of the dealers in the area have any in-stock units with BW. There are a handful of high sticker and well optioned vehicles scattered across the US and none have BW.

I can't confirm anything about new orders but I do know mine wasn't delayed due to B&W and it will have the option whenever they sort out this ZPK mess.

That seems to be the case and the original post was about new customer ordered units being placed nothing more nothing less. So if yours has it fantastic; for those of us who would like to place a new order not so great. Third option is a Q8 but the 3.0t motor for $96k vehicle is pretty lame and there will not be any SQ7/SQ8. I have to reconsider the strategy for the next daily driver and family hauler.

I am sure the X7 will have its own ordering issues. Why get a X7 unless you need a 3 row?

I do not need third row but took into consideration because we've owned several RRSC and like the comfort and ride of a larger SUV especially for passengers that car sick but in addition to that I was hoping there would be certain features or options available sooner on the X7 since it will be the flagship vehicle in the SAV line-up but apparently not.

You get the sky lounge option which is nice, if get an X7 of the 50i wasn't so slow because I love the two tone interior option. From what I know the X7 won't be on dealer lots (initial batch) until February.

Unfortunately, from specs, design, and pictures, the X7 just seems to be an X5 with a decent third row. All other interior dimensions and design identical between the two models. Will see in person.

The Bower & Wilkins starts production this month. My order got delayed to week 50 for it but also allowed several other options like the quiet glass and merino leather. It arrives after Christmas and I will post pics. Basically every option except third row and rear entertainment.
