Not yet.... but I also haven't picked up the car yet either. I know there are a few of us in this boat, so I'm hopeful that "someone" will hear or experience "something", that can share it with the rest of the forum.
I suspect that someone in here will know something before the majority of the BMW dealerships do. Fingers crossed. |

Has anybody heard anything about this yet? Last I heard, there was supposed to be a fix/update for this in November.... well, November has passed.
We're going on a YEAR now.... thousands of US servicemembers bought a car, and can't use the gps at all. A few months? Maybe. Over a YEAR though?!?! Has anyone heard anything at all? Even "speculation" is better than waiting in silence |

Bringing this thread back...... again. Has anyone heard anything? Anyone with a US spec G05 (or any car with Idrive7) hear anything about FINALLY getting a working navigation system???

This is ridiculous. If I had spent $70k on a new car during my tour in Germany and couldn't use the GPS it would really piss me off. Try calling BMWAG in Munich.

This time though.... it's been over a YEAR, and they still haven't figured it out. My DEALER told me (and I quote).... "BMW just doesn't sell enough cars to US military members serving overseas to make it a priority" Lovely.... Thanks BMW for your support. Truth be told.... I'm trying to get a new job in Germany or Italy. I'm about sick of Belgium. It sucks here. If I can't find something somewhere else in Europe, I'll just take a job back in the US. If that's the case, the Nav will work. For right now, I'm just trying to be patient.

Complete brainstorming and I have no information or confidence it can be made to work at all, but ... when browsing coding FDL parameters, country-targeting and country-specific settings are in many locations, some of which read as if they are likely to apply globally to a lot of functions in the car. With a deep investigation and completely-at-your-own-risk, it may be possible to convert the car to local region spec (within limits, I wouldn't even think of trying for RHD vs LHD, for example) for the duration of your local stay and revert back to stock when back in US.

As always, it is best to be able to compare two, more or less identically equipped, cars with the one difference you want to find (country in this case). VINs will do — it is possible to generate all of FA, SVT, and all NCD/FWL files from a VIN.

My dealership in Germany updated my software a few months back to 07/2019.47 and with that enabled cornering lights as well as installed the US maps enabling the GPS and compass. The behavior of the autonomous driving changed a bit but overall it was a great update over the 11/2018 I was on. I had the choice of getting EU maps on a usb stick but then I would've had to pay $$$ for US maps when I go back stateside in a few months. Wasn't worth it for me since I can screen mirror google maps from my phone on the Idrive. So it is possible for you guys here in the EU to get maps loaded....just need to have a dealer that knows what they're doing. Best of luck to you guys!

Here's why: I have a good friend who bought a 2019 X5 40i, and when he bought it, his european GPS Worked perfectly. Then, he went in for an "update" of some sort, and now he has no European GPS.... at all. And, the dealership (in Stuttgart) is telling him as of right now, there is no fix. My dealer (in Weisbaden) is telling me the same thing. I would be HAPPY to accept GPS on a drive, and then pay for US maps when I go back to the US. That would be perfectly fine, but it's not an option.... so we are being told by multiple dealers. |

I am not looking forward to this issue in Korea. Talk around the water cooler was that I needed to be in the states in order to get Apple Car Play and the WiFi set up. Essentially, saying that I will be without those features until I go back states side. If that's the case, that was 100k~ well spent

Hi all,
I have an X5 xDrive i40 (2019) in the US which I need to bring to Europe this summer where I’ll be living moving forward. However, I’m concerned about the navigation system when reading this thread. Has BMW found a solve to upgrading the system to European maps by now? Thanks |

When was this fixed? The dealership in Stuttgart is telling everyone that there is no software patch yet. It's been over a year so I've kinda lost hope but if there is a navigation fix somewhere i would love to know.

I have a close friend with a 2019 X5, and he was told by the clowns at Stuttgart that there is no fix.
There is..... they just can't, or don't want to do it. Ironically, they also told him that it was "impossible" to upgrade his car with an American spec tow package...... although when they sold it to him, he paid for it, and he was promised it would be done. Bavarian Motor Cars in Wurzburg can and will load European maps to your G05 X5 with Idrive 7. My car was loaded with maps when I picked it up - and it's. US spec car, delivered and picked up in Germany. |
