How to turn on Left/Right heated mirrors ?
I was under the impression that when I turn on the Rear Window Defroster, it also turns on the heating for side mirrors.
Apparently its not working for me. Does anyone know how to turn on heated mirrors ?

Ditto TB above ^^^^. Every BMW I've owned that had heated exterior mirrors...the heating function is automatic and works on an interval and is also tied to ambient temperature.
The way it's designed...it prevents or rids the mirrors of condensation in times that many owners don't even know its working. If temps are like 40° or 50° or 60° (F)...and there's high humidity or climatic conditions causing fogging, misting or condensation...the heated interval of the side mirrors will clear the side mirrors. You can see the heating interval table from the old E chassis BMWs below (aka e38/e39/e53/etc) which was controlled by the GM & door modules. The newer gen BMWs have a very similar operating parameter but it varies as to which control module is designed to monitor/control this function. It appears the BDC controls this function on the G05:

i ran into a situation where my Left side mirror had frost on it, but right side mirror had no frost and it did not go away even after i turned on the rear window defroster
could be an issue with Left side mirror, trying to confirm it so I can ask the dealer to fix this

If it didn't clear the frost on your mirror after your car was on for 10 minutes or so, you've got a problem for the dealer.

agreed its an issue for dealer, added to my list of items to be fixed on my first service..
[Seat leather under driver side thigh support coming out, HVAC temp display pannel coming out from bottom, 3d camera are misaligned, brakes have pulsating movement at high speed, left side mirror not heating up] as much as i liked the G05, the series of issues since the first day of ownership is leaving a bad taste.. never had such string of minor issues with my F10 in 7 years of ownership

I had mirrors with snow/ice on them last night. Drove for 30 min. Didn't melt at all. (sigh...)

Is there any update to this, are the mirrors generally working as design? I was surprised when I didn't see an option to turn on the mirror heating, I thought it was one more thing left behind, but I see standard features list it. Even in last gen heated mirror button wouldn't do anything unless temperature was above certain degrees if I am not mistaken.
However, are they supposed to dim as well? I don't really see them dimming much.

From the manual...which people don't seem to read...
The exterior mirror on the driver's side is automatically dimmed. Photocells in the interior mirror are used to control this. |

If you're driving along a dark section of roadway, none of the mirrors are dimmed until the photocell detects a light coming up behind you...that way, you can see more until their lights would become an issue, and they get dimmed by the mirrors...IOW, they only dim when there's something behind you, not all of the time just when it gets dark out. Being taller than some vehicles, might limit how much light gets to that photocell, and you might not see it as often as you might with a lower car.
