My Austin Yellow M4
Greetings M family, I’ve lately been lurking a lot on this forum, I recently purchased an Austin Yellow M4, I disliked the M4 when it first came out, I made a huge fuss about the lack of V8 and the stock exhaust note, I decided I wanted an AMG or a Jag F-Type R, I was always a fan of the styling of the M4, and of the M brand (and my gf is obsessed with M cars) so I decided to give the M4 a second chance, I registered on this forum and started reading up on various members build threads, I was very impressed with what you can do with this car, and I then I asked my dealership what available cars they have, I wasn’t impressed with the options list or the colors of their selection, and I’m a person that has 0 patience, and decided to shift my focus back on the F-type, and then by dumb luck I stumbled on an Austin yellow M4, with the exact options list that I had in mind, in a neighboring country (United Arab Emirates), I wired the money to that dealership right then and there, and I never looked back since
Picture of the car before it shipped to me: Picture of me unloading her: I installed the M Performance spoiler, front grill and side grills the same day of receiving her (while also getting some tints done) Then I decided to add on my exterior mods by adding a 3D-Design diffuser, M Performance carbon front splitters, matte black lower lip, side sill set and finally CF mirror covers I wanted to do exterior mods only at this point and do the interior mods later, but that idea lasted exactly 1 day, and I quickly updated my order and added a M Performance steering wheel, DCT console trim, shift knob cover, alcantara handle brake, Pedal House pedal set and IND custom floor mat set All the exterior and interior mods were bought from IND, Nate was handling my order and he answered all my questions promptly, provided great feedback and helped making the buying process very easy, (so thank you Nate for the great customer service) and the parts were meticulously wrapped and arrived here within a week of ordering safe and sound, I’ll definitely be a repeat customer Then I shifted my attention on performance mods, I ordered a BMS JB4 with OBDII tuner from n54 tuning, Mike handled my order and he was also great in customer service, he answered my questions directly (and I always have quite a few) and the product arrived within a week (huge ask for someone located in this sandpit) I also ordered IPE downpipes from Bahrain and I just love how they look, shame they’re in a place where no one can see them This car is a blast, you could leave it stock, and enjoy every second of driving it, or you could mod it, and enjoy every second out of it, whatever you chose, you’re enjoy driving, and whatever 2nd car that you own … (The other one, previously known as, the favorite one) … Gets neglected, because the M is just TOO much fun. Next on the to do list, new wheels (can't decide between ADV or HRE, 20" or 19") some spacers, a lowering kit (something that plays nice with the adaptive suspension) some semi slick tires (probably going with the toyo888) and an exhaust (leaning towards IPE but I also love how the M-performance sounds with DP's) life is too short to live stock, and live is too short to drive boring cars, I know I made the right choice with this car, looking forward to the days ahead Update 7/23/2015 Installed IPE downpipes and as I'm writing this, I'm installing the JB4 quick video of stock exhaust with IPE downpipes, it's been mentioned a billion times, so ill mention it one more time just incase you still don't get it, iPhone videos don't do any justice to the sound of the car, I'm loving this setup, and I think I will delay buying the full IPE exhaust for a few months until I get bored Update 7/25/2015 Installed The Jb4 (Stage3 with OBDII CANbus connector) ... I'm in love I had a blonde moment and didn't read the part in the instructions that said to update the firmare of the unit to 1.5 inroder to use the OBDII connector, and I emailed Mike @ n54tuning, and he replied almost immediately with support, a few emails later we figured out the problem and he pointed me towards the right way, seriously, thank you Mike, your support is priceless (I wish I knew how to tag people here, but I hope he eventually reads this) quick video while I was in the car wash toggling through the settings ps. We temporarily removed the intercooler water reservoir to install the MAP connection, we tried for an hour to install it without doing so, but it's a really tight fit, and this is the first time my mechanic and I are installing a JB4, so we opted for this option, and it was extremely, extremely easy, so keep that in mind when you're installing your JB4 Update 7/30/2015 TIRE PORN!!!! Toyo r888 295/30/19 for the rears and the front ones haven't yet arrived (out of stock), but I'm going with 265/30/19 or 255/30/19, the only ones available now are 245/35/19 so I'll just have to wait :S Update 8/22/2015 No new mods, just some new vids The Toyo R888 coupled with the JB4 are just awesome! I spent the afternoon tweaking the custom map, playing mainly with boost (afternoon well spent) some vids of the car, before, 2nd gear was simply unusable, now it's like it's on rails, insane traction and a little startup video of IPE downpipes and stock exhaust looking forward to getting the car lowered, just don't know which suspension to go with, also I've ordered new Vorsteiner 20" wheels, just need to find tires for them ... I seriously love this car Update 11/28/2015 My Vorsteiner rims should be installed next week, I'm having them painted gloss black as opposed to matte (matte matches nothing in the car) also just got those babies in, Michelin Sport Cup 2 (295/30/20 & 265/35/20) to wrap around my 10.5 and 9.5 Vorsteiner Vff-103 wheels, I'll update with more pics once they're installed Haven't updated this thread in a while, but I haven't stopped updating my car, ECU flash tune, BMS Charge pipes and MSR intake ... Car strapped on Dyno, it ran 430 with map 0, 511 with map 2, and 570 with a burble tune and a custom tune, I insisted on him not pushing the envelope too much, I wanted moderate gains and a drivable car, I also insisted on retaining the JB4 (tuner fought me on this) my reasoning, JB4 is safe, JB4 helps me control other things like LED, active sound and of course the exhaust flaps tuner told me i won't get the same exhaust burbles with the jb4, I told him to proceed ... next up I installed the BMS charge pipes and the MSR intake regarding the BMS charge pipes, i regret i didn't go for the full MSR setup, with the BMS charge pipes you lose the engine cover, that wasn't a big deal for me, but it still bugged me because I wasn't made clear of this before hand. MSR intakes, customer service is top notch, I ordered a competing brand's intake for my friend, and the ordering process lasted about a week, with MSR, i got instant replies, and the intakes were shipped to me within 2 days, and I had support during installation, pricey, but honestly, well worth it, the sound first day was beyond disappointing, then I started the adaptation process, and wow, they opened up, the sound is extremely noticeable, couldn't be happier, one of my best mods to my car (I say one of, because down pipes will always be #1 in my book) VIDEOS!!!! next round of mods ... Full exhaust with valves (the biggest headache is deciding which one), methanol kit and maybe removing the JB4 for a full signature ECU tune (if I don't go with the BMS methanol setup) happy modding people! Thank you
I'm a man with 0 patience, I usually start planning my mods before I even get the car Quote:

You have great taste sir! Thank you Thank you Quote:
Thank you I hate it too, which is why I'm getting a permit to replace the front license plate with a sticker Quote:
Exterior mods set me back around 6500 USD Interior mods 3500 USD and Performance mods 3000 USD Shipping cost me around 800 USD and installation (exterior and interior mods only) at the dealership (bad, bad idea) took three days and set me back 1650 USD |

if you have a lot of snow, then don't go for the SRT, go for the overland, the SRT version has no low gear and even though it has a snow setting, I think it's quite useless, that said, I've taken the jeep to the desert (even though SRT advise against taking the car off roading) with all the above mentioned mods, and it performed great, I expected it will have problems on the fine sand, but it didn't (my tired were deflated and I was driving in the snow setting) |
