A simple explanation, maybe the car was sent back to some BMW depo for testing, and they simply never made note of the VIN, of course having a car in stock for sale with no VIN number on record is more likely impossible these days, but you never know, on the negative side & I hope this is not the case, maybe the car in question was subject to other recalls or issues prior to this latest, and worried you may discover the history. It is simply strange I have our VIN number and the car never landed in Ireland!
You should insist on getting the VIN number or you walk away, as this is simply a step to far with an already crap experience you enduring in waiting with no updates. Quote:

I wanted to place an order today, but was told they have canceled all new orders until further notice. Is this true, or just a few dealers being difficult? I was really hoping to order one soon.

Good for you! Our cars were apparently on the same ship, mine also arrived on September 20th.
Contrary to yours mine is still listed as a recall on the UK website, and since the last communication by my dealer on Friday the 13th (a symbolic date, I know :/ ...) I have heard absolutely nothing. I stopped asking for updates, what's the point anyway? Getting the same "we don't know" message over and over again does not really improve my stress levels. And this with all due respect for my dealer, they also seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. This will be my first BMW, not really a great start of our customer relationship ... |

Looks like Belgium cars are tested first, no word of any British cars dealt with, Irish cars are first delivered to England, our car is more likely still locked in the same place 2 months ago.
It is easier to get hold of an RS 911 limited edition, over 20 years with BMW, we simply gob smacked how low they got to. |

When I received my last update from the dealer on 13/11 my car was still on their parking lot, and was supposed to be transported back to Zeebrugge the week after. But that was also what they told me a week earlier, so... . No idea where my car is now, if it's being tested or when it's going to be tested, etc... . UK update from me - No update from the dealer. But "something is happening" apparently, whatever that means. But no timescales offered.
It's positive that cars are being released outside of the Uk at least. I'm hoping to get the car by Christmas, it's funny really as I expected to get the car in April when it was first ordered in 2019. I simply feel disappointed and let down by the brand, simple as that. |

Feel your pain. First left a deposit in Dec 19' - Covid HIT - They Said July...Then September. I sold my X5 40d F15 in August with the hope I'd take delivery a month later and on that basis, BMW gave me a 420d Loaner Gran Coupe for the forseeable. Same timeline here except for the loaner which is a 520d touring. Not bad but a bit too small to fit the full family on long trips. Hopefully, I’ll be able to switch it for my 45e in 2 weeks. I should receive an update on Friday after testing is completed. Please, No Fail ... |

Any news on USA vehicles
I was wondering if anyone in the US with an affected 45e has heard of anything? I called my dealer this morning and was told about a pending software fix! Sounds BS to me.

I’m supposed to take delivery of my 45e first or 2nd week of December here in the states. Only put $1000 down as a deposit and gonna ask a lot of questions pertaining to issues Ive read about here, especially concerning the battery.
I ordered mine the first weekend in November so it’s been a pretty fast turnaround for the vehicle. |
