@Martin mustang - Yes, it's super painful. Dreadful level of service, I don't understand the holding back on progress updates - However I fear this is for a reason (e.g there is issues with the fix). I REALLY hope I'm wrong.

So, should I wait with my 45e order few months, or is it safe to order?

The recall was only for a specific batch of batteries, car delivered after September I believe are not affected! so do not see why you cannot order now.

My dealer just told me my car passed the test.
The code on the recall site also disappeared and turned into green, no recalls.: happyanim:

So just got an update from my dealer... to say they don't have a clue on the testing or timeframe. Frustrating.

I am wondering why there are few or none treads on this issue in any of the other forums on bimmerpost. If you look into the forum for the other models that also comes with hybrid batteries which we is also know that have the same issue (potential faulty high voltage batteries). E.g. 3 series 330e, X3 etc. I am not able to locate much information. Maybe it is just me not able to navigate to the right treads that would describe this but I find it strange if only X5 owners are obsessed by this and being impatient. The reason for looking around for similar treads among other models was purely to see if I could find more information of what others are being told by their dealers, successful fixes etc.

Just got a call from the dealer - the car has been tested ok.
Checked also on the website and the recall code has been removed. Waiting for them to confirm a delivery date now.

Just got a call from my dealer that the test on my car was successful and it's being prepped for a delivery tomorrow!
Checked for the recall code and it's now gone!

Great news Tom!
Very happy for you. Great to hear some positive news!!

I had a call with my dealer on Friday and my car is still at the dealers awaiting collection. He couldn't really give me any news. They have no information as to when the cars will be collected. They did submit a schedule/priority list but it was not adhered to.
BMW have confirmed to my dealer that it will be done before the end of the year.
The X3's supposedly took preference in the testing. He didn't know why!

So all going well I would have my car before the end of the year but I am not holding my breath. Provided it passes the test that is, as he also told me the replacement batteries are on back order!! So if it fails the test there will be a long wait.

I asked also about ordering a new car, which is no problem but the earliest possible delivery is May and most importantly he doesn't think BMW will cover my mobility once my original car has been cleared from the test / had the battery replaced.

So...the waiting game continues!

Congrats to all those above who have clearance.

To my luck, BMW will showcase an LCI X5 just after I've taken delivery in 2021!

@Jag sahota - Oh yeah, I saw that. Lucky me too. Just what we ordered, an outdated car. It funny really as I very nearly ordered a Range Rover Vouge instead for Christmas 2019. Christmas 2020 I'll have neither. Perfect.

Not much change vs actual version. As I could see, the LCI version has a front bumper that looks like the M version of the actual X5 but a bit lower. Gives a more aggressive look.

By the way, congrats to Tom for finally getting the car. Just had my dealer on the phone. My car was sent back last week to Bornem (testing center).
They confirmed a test started on Saturday. It places us on Wednesday to get some news on did it passes the test or not. Delivery still planned for mid-Dec...

And he confirmed that none of the car tested so far failed (mostly 225 XE and Mini E's)

Apparently BMW UK are testing by priority the cars for Ireland with the objectives to complete this before Brixit Jan 1st, since as of this date BMW Ireland will no longer operate and transit via the UK, but cars will be shipped directly from the mainland, Belgium or what ever Ports receiving them from the U.S. Hopefully, our car will be delivered just in time for the new reg 2021!
The dealer had to send back couple of X5 to the UK for testing, this all adds up and means priority testing for Irish cars otherwise BMW may be subject to extra custom costs.

I found a link to this document on the X3 forum site. It’s dated 24th November and outlines the steps in the test procedure. Seems to be a document applicable to the various dealers service departments.

One possible reason that the X5 is seeing more impact from the recall versus the other models is that it has the largest battery pack, so there's more possibility that one of the defective ones might have been incorporated in their pack.

Each module contains numerous individual batteries.
