Battery pack is on order and inbound. They don't know an estimate for part arrival. Been bugging them almost daily. Will keep you all updated.

Was your car delivered and returned to the dealer for testing? I’ve heard nothing from my dealer about returning the car for testing.

Only a certain batch of batteries were potentially affected. If you haven't been notified, you probably don't have an issue. Mine was produced at the end of that time window, and while I've checked several times, the dealer assures me mine is not on the recall list.

Hey Chris,

I was in the process of buying and delivery and then they halted it. I can still walk if I want but was a good deal. If I can't complete deal before 12/31 though, I'm gonna cancel. Don't wanna wait another whole year for the Federal tax credit.

I do not know where BMW stands on their allotment for the US federal tax credit is, but they may be getting close. Once that threshold is reached, the credit starts to ratchet down until it expires. Who knows what the next administration might do...it might get larger, get extended, or it may just disappear.

They are pretty far away.... I think something like 100k vehicles away.

BMW has a lot more hybrid models than they used to, so it's hard to say when the magic number will be reached.

Car has been in the shop for about 3 weeks now. Good news is 4 out of the 5 battery cells needed came in on Monday. Since they are coming from a 3rd party they have no way of tracking it... it will show up when it shows up was what I was told. BMW NA has been calling me weekly to check in..... I believe I needed 4 negatives and 1 positive and they are waiting for the positive cell. There are total of 6 negatives and 6 positives, a total of 12. They are hoping that it will come in next week and that I can get my car before the end of the year... here is to hoping.

Same - just collected on Christmas Eve! What a Christmas present, I forgot the luxurious nature of the drive. It was worth the near 12 month wait.

Last battery cell came in Christmas Eve. Dealer will be starting repairs on Monday. they said there will be additional programming as well. Given this will be the first one they are doing, they said to give them 2 days.... super excited to get it back.

My dealer is knee deep... basically the entire under carriage has been removed. I am not feeling too good about this... this is one of those projects that you have screw left over when you put it back together.

dropped in on the dealer today, not looking good... they are in a standing pattern waiting from BMW engineering. Seems the have to bring the batteries to a certain level of charge before putting it back, however there is some programming code required first where no one seems to have an idea about including the bmw helpline. Stay tuned.
