How bad is your wireless charging?

On my Pixel 5 (Android) phone, after placing in the wireless charging tray it only charges for a few minutes until it stops charging.

I know that wireless charging is a problem and that when the phone gets hot it stops, but this seems a little extreme to me.

Is everyone else having the same experience? Or is mine an extreme?

Thanks,
PB

It's bad with my S20 Android. Running AA with Google maps takes more juice than it can provide.

Its almost unusable, iPhone 12 pro overheats when using google maps while charging. Ended up just using a cable.

Works great on mine - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, through an Otterbox Defender case. Charges reasonably fast and doesn't heat up any more than my home charger. I have the H&C cupholders and a horizontal charging tray, G05 40i.

Same, overheats iPhone 11 Pro, and takes way too long to charge, I don't use it

Typically running a Note 20 Ultra here, Otterbox Commuter case. Not one problem, works fine.

Same for me, too hot and too slow with my IPhone 12 mini…
Maybe I will place an Apple Magsafe charger and deactivate the bmw wireless charger.:

Seems like those iphones are some real power hogs to heat up the way they do.

I never ran into wireless charging/overheating issues with my iPhone 12 Pro. I stopped using the tray simply because I needed quicker FaceID access, so I mounted mine using ProClip and a 15W MagSafe charger from Amazon which is much more efficient than the weak 5W wireless tray. FYI: I'm not aware of a setting that deactivates the wireless tray…

i dont like the position of the wireless charger. I typically have a yeti tumbler there and the phone is hard to reach and place back in that cubby hole.

It's not great, iPhone 11 Pro Max was worse than my iPhone 12 Pro Max. However when using anything other than Apple Maps the phone overheats. 5G is also awful and it will not even charge if using 5G.

iphone 12 here and it heats up to a point that the phone shut down to protect its hardware. When it's not heating up, I can barely notice any charged up. One thing to note is that this is a second iPhone 12 I've used so I concluded that it's not the phone it's the charge plate not working

No issues whatsoever.

It's worth noting that using the official cases make it much better, there's numerous reports of 3rd party cases being an issue with charging

On both my old Samsung S8 and my newer S21+, phone would over heat & LED went orange. At least with S21+, phone gets to full charge before it happens.

I had Dealer check power output of charging tray & it's within tolerance

I've heard that it's a problem with others, but it may be due to phone battery ability to accept power at a particular wattage

my iPhone 12 Pro with bumper case (open back) warmed up but never to the point of overheating, even when using processor-heavy apps BUT the charging rate was very slow. I don't use the tray anymore.

Got the new OnePlus 12 and the wireless charging in my 2023 230i is SUPA-TRASH!!! Phone gets ridiculously hot and DOESN'T charge. Even though my phone can handle 50 WATT wireless charging it feels like it's been in a SKILLET after I take it off the pad and the pad itself is FLAMING HOT! I know the problem is not my phone because I have used several other wireless chargers and my phone doesn't even get warm.

WTF BMW!!! 🥵

This may be an issue with the phones heat and battery management rather than the BMW charger. There is another more recent discussion going on here:

Wireless charger

It’s worthless for my S23+. Won’t even maintain current battery level. Total waste.

We have pixel 5 XL as well. Same experience, it gets warm even with minimal activity. It is not on AA. It won’t overheat tho. The charge rate is very slow. I would say it is an maintainer instead of a charger.
