I can assure you I am very qualified to give a educated opinion on the subject of luxury vehicles. I am sorry to hear your experience hasn’t been good with BMW but over the years you will learn anything can fail at any price point. Hang in there. Last edited by MystroX5; 01-29-2020 at 10:31 PM.. |

I don't care how great their reliability and options may be, when it comes to driving dynamics and luxury, if that's important, you're not choosing a Hyundai over BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Bentley, etc or putting them into your spreadsheet anytime soon. |

In my opinion both car caters to different market segments. Genesis is more towards being a chauffeured car and would cater the needs for car rental and hiring companies. That's what Genesis sedan is mostly used. BMW is for people who love to drive.

As far as the GV80 goes, it will likely be nowhere close to being in the same league as the X5 in regards to driving or luxury. |

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1689039 that is 330 besting it in every category. M 340 will wipe the floor with most of the cars today if handling and driving dynamics are important to you. |

I'm not a Genesis fanboy by any means or know much about sedans but do know that the G70 won tons of awards and a big reason for that was the handling of the vehicle. Edit: I have been doing a little searching and reading and I am finding more reviews/comparisons between the G20 and the G70 that have the 3 series coming on top. It seems like my initial impression was based on the comparisons from last year that were done before the G20 came out. Last edited by TurtleBoy; 01-30-2020 at 09:21 AM.. |

Time will tell but look at what Lexus accomplished, still #1 in reliability but their styling sucks.

I had to laugh when I read this article that came out today ....
https://www.news.com.au/technology/i...a8859a12e1a854 Especially this one ... “I had noticed that the ones most likely to run a red light, not give way to pedestrians and generally drive recklessly and too fast were often the ones driving fast German cars,” he said. |

"The team discovered a second type of person was attracted to high-end cars – conscientious men and women often described as respectable, ambitious, reliable and well-organised." I would assume anyone who is a real enthusiast about what they drive (regardless the brand) has a bit of a feeling of theirs being better than others for a variety of reasons. Hopefully without the superiority complex. |

That article isn’t about luxury cars or owners but a shaming from a socialist liberal ideology. Look at the ending tag and it says it all.
“It would be great if consumers had other, sustainable ways of showing their status rather than the superficial consumption of luxury goods that often has negative consequences. “We are already seeing that driving an electric car is becoming something of a status symbol, whereas SUVs with their high emissions are no longer considered as cool.” Give me a break. Concerns about the dealers aside, I would agree with you. They should be able to start establishing a decent position in the second tier luxury SUV segment with the GV80. They obviously will pull some people away from the top tier brands but also draw folks into the segment given that are offering a fairly feature-rich vehicle at a more affordable price.

Honda, Toyota or Nissan are much better cars vs Hyndai. I will take accord or maxima over any Hyundai. But add luxury goodies to them and they become stagnant/old people image brands. there is nothing exciting about Lexus, Acura or infinity , even though cars are decent. MDX is great car, but boring as heck. So i guess marketing works wonders on Genesis. Young brand in the beginning, trying really hard and getting great image. |

So I'm actually ok driving an Acura, Lexus, or Infiniti over a Genesis, even though the Genesis is the better car. How's that for defying logic

This. I really, really wanted to love the RX350 F-Sport with F Performance package. Would've cost me like $100/month less than my G05 and I kind of liked the idea of something a little smaller. I liked the Lexus, even acquired a taste for the styling, but didn't love it. Underpowered and a bit cramped in the driver seat. But was keeping an open mind. Then I drove the X5.......... end of story.

GV80 is on a new platform for Genesis, rear-wheel drive based. It is not on the same platform as the Palisade/Telluride. GV80 has a new turbo V6 with a guesstimate around 400hp.
The Telluride/Palisade are killing it right now, Hyundai ran right by the other mainstream SUV makers. Can they do the same with luxury cars? I doubt it but for a different reason. Dealers. I have not seen many Genesis dealers yet. Most are tucked in the back of crappy Hyundai dealers. They need to step it up several notches. Alex on Autos has a brief review out there for the GV80. Just a look for now and the million dollars question is now it drives. |
